    Riding Lake Superior

Rode up the north shore 2 summers ago on the way to Manitoba. Did the south shore a couple years ago when we played for a few days in the UP. Some nice vista from the trans canada but not much (any?) twisty stuff. There is some nice twisty stuff in the US. The run up to Copper Harbour is great...

    DOT dirt tires

I have the trackmasters on my drz400 also. They seem to work good in the dirt.

    Fork oil weights and ATF

I'm in the midst of replacing the fork seals on my 06 KLR650 and I'm debating what to fill the tubes with. I weigh 145 lbs in my birthday suit and the suspension is stock. I know it could likely benefit from progressive springs and after market valving but for now I'm leaving it stock. My...

plain and simply Loud pipes risk rights and like my t-shirt says if loud pipes save lives imagine what learning to ride could do.

    25 passes

Got out a few weeks back 12.67 @105MPH Pretty happy with that. Here's the kicker - passed thru the trap still in third gear!! Luckily the rev limiter is in my head.

    Rear tire pressure

I see lots of guys now with the front end strapped. Think that would help with my 80 goldwing? It's stripped down and has solid struts in place of the rear shocks. What would "hardtailing" both ends be like? 12.6 @ 105mph is my best yet

    Rear tire pressure

What's the thinking on this. A soft tire will have more contact area for hooking up off the line but a harder tire has less rolling resistance going down the track. I have yet to play with this variable. Where would be a good place to start?

    Alternator disconect

In fact that is not true. By disconecting the wires you still have voltage but no current so there is some savings to be had - not much but some.

    Sheepskin Seat covers

Actually you can. It just needs to meet certain requirements (clean, free of bark insects or soil) . According to their website the beaded seat cover would likely not be problematic.

    Sheepskin Seat covers

I had a sheep skin but now I use beads. Not the Beadrider just a cheapo wooden bead seat cover that I modded to the size of a bike seat. Works great and contrary to what macdoc says it's holding up just fine even though it's been wet numerous times.

    Alternator disconect

Seems to launch OK. I'm often a respectable way down the track before the fast bikes pass me. They have to slow down to get the front wheel back on the ground but that's never a concern for the wing.

    Touring gear recommendations?

I've put down lots of miles in the rain with the FTs and they work good - Here's a tip - put the hood up before putting on your helmet and no rains goes down your back

    Best 2up/Touring Motorcycles?

Both me & the squeeze are smallish. I'm 5'6" 145lbs and she's 5'3" 120lbs. We'll have to see how it feels next spring. Unfortunately I started off with a Wing and for her comfort wise everything is likely to be a step backward.
