I'm in the midst of replacing the fork seals on my 06 KLR650 and I'm debating what to fill the tubes with. I weigh 145 lbs in my birthday suit and the suspension is stock. I know it could likely benefit from progressive springs and after market valving but for now I'm leaving it stock.
My...
What's the thinking on this. A soft tire will have more contact area for hooking up off the line but a harder tire has less rolling resistance going down the track.
I have yet to play with this variable. Where would be a good place to start?
Anyone installed these on their KLR? I just bot the bike and like my DRZ it needs to be lowered. This time I want to go with the links rather than the shave seat, drop triple clamp and loosen the the rear preset route that worked ok for suzi.
Anyone made their own? Near as I can tell it's alum...
I have a 1980 GL1100 (goldwing) that I stripped and have been taking to the St Thomas 1/4 mile. (12.67 @ 105mph)
A friend suggested I could gain some power by disconnecting the plug to the alternator. The thought being their would not be magnetic opposition to it turning.
Rather than fiddle...
I'm trying to get my digital dash set -up (Acewell 3700) and I would like to know where redline is on the standard DRZ tach. I'd also like to know where the rev limiter kicks in.
Right now the shift warning flashes around 6500 and it's quite annoying.
Thanks.
Not sure how it happened but the acewell 3700 digital dash on my DRZ400 has some how become uncalibrated if you will. The speeds displayed are now way to high compared to what they should be.
Is there a way to reset this unit?
I found the users manual online and it goes through the set up...
Anyone up to ride the abandoned rail line west of St Thomas? Did it last spring with 2 friends on 650s (a KLR & DR) both with 80/20 tires. They had some fun getting through some of the large mud puddles. My DRZ400 with kenda trackmasters was the perfect set up.
This line runs as far west a...
Out to St Thomas last Sunday for test & tune. Started at noon and just kept looping back until they quite around 4. Managed 25 passes.
Pretty happy with a best time of 13.0 considering last years best run was 13.6 (bone stock motored 82 Goldwing)
12 something is within reach.......
I don't mean to be callous but riders die every day somewhere, just like people in cars. That's just a fact of life.
What's the good of bringing it up here?
No one posts when a car crash turns fatal. Unless you knew these people personally they're just another statistic. Let it go and move on.
My Wing turned a 100,000kms coming back from Thompson in August. (I know that's only 60,0000 miles but it sounds like a neat milestone)
I heard that you can get a pin or something from Honda if you provide them with photos/proof. Anyone know if this is true? My google search was unsuccessful...
Always figured if I was ever to break down and buy a harley it would be a nice light 883 sporty.
Recently I demo'ed a Yamaha Bolt which reminds me a lot of the 883, however I was barely into the demo before I realized how much I disliked the both the power delivery and the seating position...
Did this ride a while back (late may or june) and although it's no day in the Ganny it was still a fun ride close to home.
Last time two buddies on 650s had a bit of trouble with big puddles on street oriented tires but it should be much dryer now and no problem w/o knobbies.
Hoping to get...
In a couple weeks we're headed to Thompson Manitoba and my buddy wants to take 560 to avoid some transcan.
I'm interested in 560 west to the Sultan Industrial road and then west to 667 and eventually Chapleau. The Sultan Industrial road is a private road with public access. Google maps only...
Anyone up for riding the abandoned rail line west of St Thomas? (I talked about doing this earlier but infact I didn't have my bike sorted - the new stator and R/R just arrived so this coming weekend should be no problem.)
Obviously being an old rail line this is no Ganny single track but I saw...
