Smart chargers: CTEK vs Noco... which one to buy?

I see that Canadian Tire is now carrying Noco smart chargers. I picked up a CTEK 3300 (for my Ninja 500) for $44 when they were half price, but haven't opened it yet. I wanted to find out how they compare to the newer Noco chargers before opening it, in case I want to exchange it. It looks...

Having a hard time finding a good jacket. Any advice on brands/retailers?

Thanks mikbusa, and cycling. I have been to all the local shops that i know of, plus RD, trying everything on I could with no luck. But Sturgess sounds very promising. I will head there next.

Having a hard time finding a good jacket. Any advice on brands/retailers?

I have been using a very old borrowed jacket since I bought my bike almost 2 months ago, and am DYING to buy a new one. But I'm having a real hard time finding one. I have been to a number of local shops, and only found one that I kind of like. I also made the 1.5 hour drive to Royal...

Good bike cover for someone without a garage?

For those of you who don't own a garage or car port, what motorcycle cover would you recommend? I am looking for one that is waterproof. Not a cheap piece of crap, but looking to see if I can avoid shelling of the dough for a Dowco Guardian All Season @ $125. Is the Dowco really worth the...

Ninja 500R... first time oil change. Help a newbie pick the right brands?

Thanks everyone. The crush washer being the washer for the drain bolt right? Would this be a dealer specific part? They quoted me $14 for an OEM filter. Is that way overpriced? I can't find any prices for OEM Kawi filters online in Canada.

Ninja 500R... first time oil change. Help a newbie pick the right brands?

My question is not about the procedure, but the materials. I had no idea there was such a 'conspiracy' when it came to crappy quality oil filters. I have read pages and pages of info on oil filters for bikes, and it seems like unless you use Mobil1 or Purolator PureOne filters you are getting...

Used bikes, and sellers' ignorance when it comes to tires.

Murf... You're absolutely right. How people can own something and know nothing more than "when I twist the throttle it goes vroom" completely floors me. No concept of regular maintenance, proper storage, or anything regarding the bike for that matter. Giddyup69... That's what I have been...

Oh boy. Pass! If you haven't grasped by point of my post by now, I'm afraid there is no hope.

Used bikes with VERY low kms?

TwistedKestrel... Thanks for the reply. I really have no idea how much seals cost to replace on a bike and how big an expense it is. By seals we are talking valve cover, and head gaskets right? I know how much these cost to replace on a car, but what do they cost to replace on a bike? What...

Used bikes with VERY low kms?

What kind of mileage would be 'too low' in your opinion for a 2006? I saw a nice 500R for sale with under 1,500kms. I have read that when bikes are stored for a long time and not ridden, the seals can dry up, and liquids like gas, coolant and brake fluid can leave deposits, engines can develop...

Used bikes, and sellers' ignorance when it comes to tires.

Giddyup69... You completely missed the point of my post. Dr Sarcasm and Marcfolch hit it bang on (thanks guys). I would never expect a seller to replace tires. But when they are selling a bike with tires that will need IMMEDIATE replacement due to them being way past their expiration (read...

Used bikes, and sellers' ignorance when it comes to tires.

From the research I have done, manufacturers and highly experienced riders seem to agree on an absolute max age of 5 or 6 years. Many recommend replacing them even sooner.

Used bikes, and sellers' ignorance when it comes to tires.

I have been in the market for a used bike for several months now, and I am completely shocked by how sellers consider the age of the tires on their bike to be such a trivial and insignificant detail. Most have absolutely NO clue what a date stamp is or how to find it, or they just don't care...
