SHOULD? Why chance it? Sporsters for years and years called for SportTrans fluid, which was replaced and is now Formula+. I think old iron heads and early evo's may have even called for straight 30 at one time for the primary/trans. You can also run Syn3, or any motorcycle/wet clutch safe 20W50.

A Sportster uses a dry sump motor and a wet clutch. The primary and transmission use the same oil supply, while the engine uses its own supply. DO NOT use gear oil in your Sportster tranny/primary. Some gear oils, GL1, GL5, i don't recall which one, use sulfur as an anti wear additive, and it...

Do not leave old oil in the bike over the winter. Used oil is acidic and is a no no for sitting over the winter. You want to do an oil change and put fresh oil in, then park for winter. Come spring, you just ride and go, no need to change oil again.

Checking is a good thing, and doesn't take long to do. I did my '12 CBR125R at 4000km. Intake was a little loose but within spec, and the exhaust valve was actually tight. So, the 1 hour I took out of my day to check, was definitely worth while. I'd rather check and know they are ok, because...

I ordered my '12 Repsol model this past spring, dealer said it was the last new in crate left at Honda Canada's Calgary warehouse. Honda was selling 2012 models for like 1500 off MSRP. I'm not sure the CBR125R is discontinued though... Possibly just skipping a model year to sell off the on...

No, I mean a tank costs no more than 15$ to fill with premium, and I can squeeze 500km to a tank. The reserve kicks in just over 400km. What year is yours? The 2011+ models have a 13L tank...

I love my CBR125R. Its a great bike, it really is. Its great fun riding in the city, commuting, and I also ride 100km/h highways all the time with it too. ZERO issues. AND its cheap to insure, cheap to maintain, and gets 500km to a tank of gas for $15. The way I see it, if you are on a 125...

I can push 500km on my '12 CBR125R, 13L tank

I ride my CBR125R from Winnipeg to Gimli, Birds Hill Park, Whiteshell, etc. 100km/h on the highways is no issue at all.
