Last year I sold new motorcycles at a GTA dealership. I was given access to dealer costs on all our bikes. For a bike to have decent margin it had to have a msrp of at least $20,000. Since most bikes sold have msrp's under $14,000. Gross profit (assuming customer pays full pop are under $1200)...
I rode from T.O. to Portland Maine this summer and I didn't notice all these bad roads mentioned. The only bad roads there I can think of are in Vermont. 100 is bumpy and some of the mountain roads between Lake Champlain and 100 are a piece of ****. I found New Hampshire and Maine roads to be ok.
Motorcycle Commentary
In response to the J.D. Power and Associates 2010 U.S. Motorcycle Competitive Information Study, which reveals that the average rider age has increased from 40 in 2001 to 49 in 2010, and the percentage of first-time motorcycle buyers has declined for a second consecutive...
I've heard from several sources that most motorcycle fatalities involve riders over 45. I don't dispute this fact. I only want to find out why this is. Is it because older riders are reckless and unskilled, or is it because the older demographic (age 45-65) is over represented in the motorcycle...
I'm 55 and ride an FJR1300. It's not the fastest off the line but it's mid range acceleration still gives me a good adrenaline rush. The best part of all is it's comfortable to take across the continent and is insurance friendly.
This video is chilling to me not only because of the human tragedy but because I also ride an American FJR with speedo in mph. Indeed the rider was traveling at close to 100 mph at impact. It's been said already but I'll say it again. "Slow down when approaching intersections or driveways!" I...
I don't know if you've been to WV but the higher elevations are all east of Elkins and you don't even have them mapped. The Old Clark Inn is a popular motorcyclist accomodation in Marlinton. Cheap as dirt and the owners are riders. There is a clean Super 8 in Elkins on 219. Whats more there is...
I visited a Cyclegear store in San Diego in the spring. It was great. Bought a rainsuit and some new boots for $70. I was surprised to find out they have dozens of stores across the USA. They have 5 stores in NY state but they are all in the NY city area. The closest stores are in Cleveland and...
I was at Ontario Ferrari the other day and learned that Remo Ferri the owner of many car dealerships including the aforementioned Ferrari is opening up a new Ducati dealership on Steeles ave at the old Kahuna location. I have no affiliation with him but I wish him luck. I'm sure all the Ducati...
When I go on trips of less than a week I always pre-book. I am a worry wart. Having said that. I never pre-booked a single night during my 6 week trip to California last April and I never had a problem finding a room. I think it had some thing to do with it being the off-season.
That hairpin requires any body's full attention. I have ridden roads in California, Colorado, and the Dragon, but have never encountered a road like that hairpin at the forks.
I wouldn't cancel with that forcast. Thunderstorms don't last all day. They blow through and its sunny the rest of the day. Besides, Thursday and Friday look great.
First I want to congratulate you on your choice of destination for your first long distance ride. Although I've ridden California and Colorado WV still remains a favorite destination. It's relatively close, offers a taste of Southern Hospitality, and the roads are very lightly traveled once you...
I was in the Adirondacks Sunday to Tuesday. Now I know why there were so many bikes on hwy 3 leaving Lake Placid on Sunday. I didn't realize Americade was this past week end. I'm glad they finally got some nice weather for the event. I had a great ride except for the black flies. They were...
