    Loud Vehicle Legislation Across Canada

If you knew more about it, you wouldn't say that. The sound ratings mandated by the MOE are what forced the Caterpillar's of the world to produce these quiet Gen-sets for use in populated areas of the province (most often hospitals). That never would have happened without gov intervention. It's...

    Loud Vehicle Legislation Across Canada

Whoa, you got pretty far down that road in a hurry, friend. Does drive clean test your headlights for lumen output? Your tire size? I think a measured response is possible here in Canada without going off the deep end. Is that what they did in California, the home of the free :-)

    Loud Vehicle Legislation Across Canada

That wasn't my question. I could show you a 2500kw diesel generator with a hypercritical muffler that puts out less noise than a backhoe with 1/8 the engine size and power. My question was about leaning on the manufacturers to stop selling 100+db pipes. Right now all they have done is slapped...

    Loud Vehicle Legislation Across Canada

I can see the difference but the net result for both is far more noise than is necessary. Do you have an answer t my question?

    Loud Vehicle Legislation Across Canada

Ahhh, life in the black and white vacuum. As I stated in another post. I have a stock exhaust. I also never said loud pipes were acceptable. Read my posts again. I said I think this is the wrong solution. To bring up other sources of noise pollution is perfectly valid to show that motorcycles...

    Loud Vehicle Legislation Across Canada

Moral ground or not, bikes have been loud since the 1920's and this isn't the first attempt at intervention.

My exhaust is stock but I'm glad your "regular folk" now and not everyone. Too bad you can't see the big picture. The easier, cheaper solution is to take these 100db pipes off the market before wasting the cops (expensive) time with enforcement.

    Loud Vehicle Legislation Across Canada

I know they have been working on it, but I haven't noticed much of a change except with buses. New ones are an order of magnitude quieter. Truckers always whine about costs (gas price increase) but these find their way into higher shipping prices eventually. The consumer (who benefits) pays in...

    Loud Vehicle Legislation Across Canada

In my world, bikers are citizens. I'm glad you speak for EVERONE!! Me and "my kind" aren't to happy with the trucks engine breaking on the highway all night by my house or the Go trains that blow their horns starting at 5:30am every morning. If you think all would be silent if all motorcycles...

    Loud Vehicle Legislation Across Canada

The devil is in the details. I don't believe it will be enforced equally. I also think that other major noise polluters are not regulated or enforced adequately (Trucks, Busses, Trains). Their is an epidemic of unsafe driving going on right now (electronics use, speeding) that is costing lives...

    Loud Vehicle Legislation Across Canada

No, not really. Care to elaborate on why you think its nonsense?

    Loud Vehicle Legislation Across Canada

Slipons that add only looks and noise (can be done with close to stock sound output) are silly and cruzers with straight pipes are ignorant. The beer cooler sized CAT on my bike tells me they have the emissions under control these days. I'm more concerned with giving the discretion to law...

    Loud Vehicle Legislation Across Canada

That's a strawman argument. 18 wheelers, dump trucks, buses and yes trains could all be made to produce far less noise. A sportbike with a full system can produce a significantly more HP. Is that necessary for the street? I don't know but if society wants to address noise pollution, it should be...

    ear plug headphones?!

Www.headfi.org Google it. 100's of detailed reviews at all price points. I use a set of $100 Hifimans that seal well, fit in the helmet and sound great. Don't get much useful sound info on a GSXR with any kind of ear protection anyhow.

    Consumer Reports Motorcycle Reliability data

Yeah, I'd have to agree with that That brings up another point. How many of each manufacturers bike are on the road? Are they asking about current ownership only? These things can skew the numbers pretty badly. Just seems like no thought went into this at all.
