Consider a Moto Guzzi California. You'll get a very reliable, very comfortable, very good looking cruiser with excellent fit and finish. Best if all, you'll be able to lean it over much more than most any other cruiser.

Bike's practically brand-new and is very unlikely to need any work, so I'm just looking for a place that's honest and charges a fair price.

They'll get hot, obviously, if you're not moving for a long time and it's a very hot day. But they use 10W60 full-synthetic oil, and thus I've noticed no problems with mine. By the time the bike's hot enough to bake the oil, you'd already have passed out from heatstroke.

The 'old' V7 engine is, I believe, basically identical to the Breva. The 'new' engine has a lot of little changes, and a major one -- a single throttle body instead of dual throttle bodies -- but even if you do your own maintenance you won't see many huge differences. The changes are many but...
