Hello Everyone,

I know that we had already multiple posts about tires however I want to start new tread for upcoming season 2020. My recent tires are Battlax BT-023.
I am looking for new set of sport touring tires and here are the options for 120/70/17 GT and 180/55/17 GT:
1. Michelin Road 5
2. Bridgestone Battlax 31 GT
3. Dunlop Road III
4. Michelin 4 GT
5. Continental Conti Motion
6. Pirelli Anget GT or GTII
7. Shinko

Let me know your feedback on the tires or any recomendation.
Also, which supplier will be the best to use to purchase and install new tires in GTA based on the personal experience.

Thanks for reading:cool:

Yummy, tire shopping (y) i shall post the sizes I need too,
front 100/90 V 18 tubeless
rear 130/90 V 17 tubeless
Skinny ones, :i think the best available might be barely good enough so price is no object.
I can stretch them on myself.

I'm looking at a new set of shoes this year as well...same size as yours for my FZ07...I have 17,000 on stock ones, and they still look great...no cupping, flat spots and tread ok...only thinking of getting new ones because of manufacture date...I've spoken to a few dealers in the west end (Milton/Burlington) and most will price match Fortnine and Pete's Superbikes...if they order them, installation is roughly $150...if I order them and bring them in, they charge $250 for installation...I did find Champion Cycle and they charge $100 for install and you can order the tires online and have them shipped to him directly...hope this helps! :D

P.S....my FZ6R had Angel GTs on them and they were ok...I think they last 16000 km or so...I replaced those with Michelin PR4 and they were a fantastic tire...I wanted them now, but apparently they aren't made anymore...

Someone is going to charge you $250 to swap tires over?
That is just robbery. I would keep looking around.

@miggs that's if i bring the tires to them...if i purchase tires from them, it's only $150...i've called around to quite a few places and they all jack their prices up if you don't buy from them directly... :(

I had a quote done up for tires at the beginning of Dec 2019 at Ace Moto-Tech in Milton.

$127.96 + HST ($144.60 total) for Install/Balance. Tires ON BIKE (meaning you ride the bike in).
That price is with a $20 discount (per tire) if buying tires from them as well.

As for tire price. this is what I got.
Michelin
Pilot Power 2CT 120/70ZR17 $144.99 +HST
Pilot Power 2CT 180/55ZR17 $184.99 +HST
Total with HST and OTSF $382.49 plus install

Bridgestone 120/70ZR17 S22F 58W $149.99 + HST
Bridgestone 180/55ZR17 S22R 73W $189.99 + HST
Total with HST and OTSF $393.79 plus install

I'm not sure if these prices are same today but posting just for comparison.

the average owner cannot do this themselves
expect $50 plus to per tire to have done for you

no shame in this
it is the market rate for safety

ACE quoted me $663 all in for a set of Michelin Road 5s on my FZ07...and that was after multiple attempts at getting a quote...not the easiest to either get a hold of, or a quote from...i hear he does good work though which is why i contacted him...just took a very long time to hear back...

Hmm.

I got the quote in person while I was buying some oil.

I have not dealt with them for any service work but I too have heard good things.

I think they have limited hours during off season so that might explain it.

Did you get Michelin’s?

I haven't purchased anything yet...

I called Mikeymoto and he quoted $80 if they're on the bike, $40 if they're off the bike...he works track on the weekends, so he's only available during the week, and I can't get to him in Brampton during the day...but $80 on the bike is a really sweet price...

What tires are you going with than? What bike?

I'm not sure yet...it's a 2015 FZ07 which I've had since late fall of 2016 (got it brand new as an overstock after I crashed my FZ6R)...I'm very light weight, and not an aggressive rider at all which is why I've probably been able to put 17,000 km on the stock tires...tread depth and rubber actually looks ok...I'm bringing the bike in to have some heated grips installed as well as a quick check over (other than oil changes and chain cleaning/lubing, I haven't done anything to the bike) in a couple of weeks, so I've asked them to look the tires over for me (mostly due to age rather than anything else)...depending on what they say, I'll decide then...the Road 5s have good reviews, but I was also considering Shinko 705s as they are not bad for dirt/gravel roads as well (from what I hear on the FZ07 forums/groups)...

Looks like plain old Lasertec tires for the BMW next, it's a safe bet for a period tire considering they often came with them on it.
I think I can stretch them on myself.

I did my first ever tire change myself last summer. 2 spoons, zipties. I guess I'm above average yay.

Holy hell it was painful to talk off 7yr old Dunlop rear.
I'd imagine younger the tire is, easier. So next time I hope it'll go better.

I went with shinko 009 raven. They've got good reviews (also bad, but there's always those) from svrider so I went with them.

I wanted more sport touring type tires and don't ride that aggressive. Price was lowest out of all your choices.
But unless you do enough miles to change tires every year, price gets amortized over number of years, so it might not matter that much if you think about it.

I've done about 2500km and no complaints. They're better than 7yr old stock tires for sure. Only thing is, I got a slight cut horizontally but it could be from something I went over, who knows.

very cool

but there's more to it than swapping tires
many riders do not have the facilities/abilities to re/re the wheels
change the tires and get everything back together without safety concerns

you are indeed above average

Next time let the wheel and new tire sit in the sun for a while to warm up, makes it a LOT easier.
It gets easier with practice.
