OPP to target dangerous drivers on long weekend

Why don't they target dangerous drivers all the time?
Last long weekend before the summer and people generally get retarded...
A lot of accidents and deaths happen over long weekends I guess.
I don't know about you, but I see cops around all the time and they're always pulling people over. This just means that they'll be more aggressive than usual.

They should target unsafe trailers (and campers) along with unsafe driving. Speeding should be a very low concern compared to those.

They do this on the 400hwy. They have an MTO inspection team on site.

Here's the article...

ORILLIA — Ontario Provincial Police say they will be taking to highways, trails and waterways in an effort to reduce fatalities and injuries during the Labour Day weekend.
Police say they will be highly visible on the last long weekend of summer, and will target impaired, aggressive and distracted drivers.
They will also be looking for people who are not buckled up or using proper child seats.
Boats will be checked for drinking operators and life-jacket use.
Police say there have been more collisions, but fewer deaths and injuries, on OPP patrolled roads so far this year compared with the same point in 2010.
They have also taken to social media such as Twitter and Facebook to spread the message about safe driving.

The quoted article above seems that it's all for good intention: your safety and that of others as well.
Unfortunately there are too many people in and out of this forum that just hate cops because they are cops.

Who woulda thunk that the OPP and other law enforcement would be targeting dangerous drivers on a long weekend? This is truly a first

They are targeting motorcycles as well,
If you plan on taking a rip on the usual 507, 503 Etc roads, i suggest you stick to the limit.
Last weekend saw 5 OPP on the 507, 2 had someone the rest looking for speeders.

Be safe out there

"Officers will also be looking for any motorist who is operating their motor vehicle in a way that endangers motorcycle riders."

Nice to see that

Yes indeed.

Read the bottom part of the article on this link, it is in more detail and I like that the story starts off by being against motorcycles and finishes with being with them. It makes for a nice ying-yang feeling.

"Police say they’re targeting drivers who are driving unsafely or aggressively. We’ve all seen our share of motorcycle drivers holding on to the handlebars with one hand, "

I do this all the time when I'm bored motoring along the empty stretches of straight road.

I also took note of that statement. who doesn't hold on with one hand now and then especially after a long ride.

I do it too, didn't know it was illegal...but I can see how cops can deem it unsafe and give me a stunting charge. One more reason for me to switch back to standard bikes I suppose, less fatigue!
