Hello...i am Kenners and i'm quite the newb, but i've been wanting to ride since i was 17, and now that i have the ability to, i'm about to jump on and get with it.

this being said, i've done quite a bit of research and have rested myself on the Hyosung GT250 Standard, does anyone know any dealers?

I've tried motorcyclecityinc, and i can't seem to get a hold of anyone at T.O cycles (line is always busy), and pickering only has the "R".

any help would be greatly appreciated.

danke.

Not so sure how true it is, but I've heard that Hyosung are not mechanically sound. Apparently their engines seize up and have a whole whack of other problems. Check google.

Kenners, I deal with John at motorcycle city, if he can't get it for you I'm sure he can guide you in the right direction. Try asking him again, he's a great guy.
I ride a GT250R. I love the bike, it's got plenty power for 90% of the riding you'll be doing, and it's handling is second to none. I love the bike so much, I actually bought 2 of them!

Good luck with your search and anytime you wanna ride or need some help with Hyosung (since the help isn't out there) lemme know, I'd be glad to pass on what I've learned about this truly unique motorcycle.

I agree with JouJou John is the guy to deal with when it comes to hyosung. I am actually in talks with him to land a 2011 GT250R. I did enough research on this bike to find out that a lot of people believe what their friends have heard from their friends.......yes it a new company in Canada but most of their market is in Europe, Australia and Asia. I know this because I am having difficulty in getting my model as Canada is one of the last market in their priority list, so supply is short.....

I spoke a guy who came to fix his GT250R's signal lights at motorcycle city he said samething what JouJou said about the bike...

lol!

I appreciate the help y'all, I've read all the threads about Hyosung, and i can see why JouJou would get a little annoyed as they get picked on a lot by people who have never used it.

Thanks JouJou, i'll try to make my way up to MotorcycleCity soon....and once i know what the hell i'm doing, i'll be taking you up on your offer to ride lol.

@ManUtd9, when i spoke to the lady on the phone about the standard, she said that they had "R"s...i'm im guessing you would know better as you're trying to buy one now lol, but hopefully i can get this standard...

Its a beauty. Get yourself a two brothers exhaust on it as well and you'll LOVE the sound of that VTwin, very hot.

More interesting facts for you: Although the bike is significantly larger than the Ninja 250, the bike is actually LIGHTER! Yes, it's lighter due to the fact that it is AIR cooled vs the ninja's liquid cooled. So wet weight = lighter. Also you get fuel injection on the 2010+ models, always a nice feature to have. Inverted forks are also another bonus, and you get some nice torque from the V.

Wait till you get comfortable with the bikes handling, and you'll be dragging your knee in no time, I take 30km/h exit ramps on the dvp at 100+ np, she just keeps leaning it's great, and you can flick it like crazy. !!!! ahhhh

This bike might be lighter, but I didn't like it: I tried it at the RTI course, and it felt heavy and sluggish. To be fair, my gf rides a Ninja 250 and that thing is fun as hell! Totally whippable, if a little on the small side. I guess the Hyosung's designers had made the bike top heavy, which made it feel that way?

I dunno; but my best advice is to see if you can try before you buy.

I don't know, I've ridden both of the bikes and I find the ninja doesn't have the seating position to be controlled like the Hyo does

@Krishan: RTI uses older GT 250(comet), the new one is re-design and lighter in weight. I tired comet at RTI it felt heavy but than I sat on newer models there is a big difference in weight.

@JouJou: I might be bugging you alot after I land my Hyo....First i need to change the exhaust and thn other upgrades......thanks in advance for your help

bah! it looks like i may have to look at another option, the only option was Motorcyclecity and i'd have to special order it if i wanted to get it. :(

I called John today and have to special order mine as well. I decided to go ahead and order one since I don't want to compromise on motorcycle(decals) that I'm planning to keep for longtime. I'm gonna go tomorrow and put down deposit only thing sucks is I wont get bike until mid July

That does suck =( It's okay, it'll be worth it when it finally gets here. Anytime you need any help with your hyo's let me know... I've been in and out with these machines, and they are different... lol

I made a big U-Turn JouJou.....lol....saw an ad on kijiji last nite someone selling Hyo 2009 model(Red) with only 665 km for $3500. I went to see the bike this morning and found it very clean and pristein.....I made an offer less than what he was asking for and the guy agreed cuz he recently bought HD. The price was too good to let it go....so I end up with 2009 model....the plus point is I will be riding very soon with almost half the price what I would hve paid for 2011 model.......I will contact you to guide me for some upgrades once I get possession of my Hyo.....

Was your model the Fuel Injected one?

2009 are not fuel injected models.....but it doesnt really matter for the price I paid...one of the reason I was looking for 2011 model was it was hard to find to 2009 in Red.....with money I saved I'll be able to do some upgrades

Ahhh thats what I though. My ex got the 08 FI and it does make a huge difference. She paid I think 4200 in mint condition. You should have asked around because once you become a proficient rider, things that don't matter now will matter to you in the future, and things like mods won't matter as much.

Anyways, the bike is an excellent bike, and the rider position is comparable to a 600 SS so congratulations on your buy, enjoy and don't worry about what people say about the model, the Kawi 250's don't compare to the one you bought and I am a Kawi guy.

thanks zx600...I will consider FI option for future but since its my first bike I wont notice the difference and on top of tht price was a big factor in my decision.......I also agree with not paying attention to people's opinion abt the bike......I liked this bike since the beigining and I never had second thought abt getting kawi(No offence)......I wanna enjoy this bike for few years and will see how it goes abt upgrading....I'm not a guy who will ever consider racing or speeding...so the 600 SS looks is gud enough for me at this moment.......

Ahh another Hyosung thread.....

First off, when it comes to models here is how the range works for the sport bikes....
GT250 \ GT650
(Sometimes the GT250N or GT250 Naked)
Upright riding position. Handle bars. 1-up classic headlight configuration, no windshield. The GT650N is not imported anymore. The GT250 might be

GT250R \ GT650r
Fully Faired "supersport" style bike. Larger then your average 250. Clip ons are used. 2 Projection lamps, vertically stacked. bubble shield. Both of these bikes continue to be imported.

GT650S
This is a mix between the twp types. Handles bars are in use for a more upright riding position but the upper fairing, vertical headlight stack, and bubble shield of the 650 is maintained. This bike never made it to Canada.

as for engine.....
The engine is sound. So far i have had very little wrong with mine. In fact, nothing has gone wrong that was not from someone else doing. (Had someone push it over)
I am at 17,000km so far. I have done oil changes as needed, required maintenance, and looked after it the best I have been able to. The issue with bikes at RTI is they get treated like crap so that is not a good place to evaluate a bike.

As for a dealer....
Motorcycle city is a good spot. I called them the other day for a clutch cable for my bike. (That is not imported anymore) They had it in stock and ready to sell.

As a beginner bike, any hyosung would be great. Go check out korider.com that is the hyosung owners forum. You will be myself (under the same name) and many other riders there who love there bikes.

Lots of people have never even ridden a hyosung. I really try to stay away from comments about what it is like to RIDE a bike, if i have never ridden it. Ex, I have ridden a honda DN-01 and can tell you that it is interesting and boring at the same time and i wojuld never buy one. but i see the appeal to some. As for my hyosung.... after putting some really nice rubber on..... i am enjoying it every day. I also ride all year round.

If you ahve any questions please feel free to ask me. Or check out korider.com.
