Police LEDs for TRACK ONLY.

Hey guys,

Just curious, if it's legal to run red/blue LED strobes for the track only?
Talking about pavement here, not dirt.

Assuming the system is removed for street use of course.

If i was running tech, or marshalling, i would not let you on the track with flashing strobe lights.

Absolutely NO lights of Any type are allowed on track.

If they are not removed, they must be taped over and have the fuses removed.

Why would you want to do this anyway?

What function does it perform?

I'm guessing that its a "look at me" device.

Yes, to make sure that all the other riders see him and don't run him off the track. Don't you know, red and blue strobes save lives.

Ordinarily loud pipes would be enough to save lives, but loud pipes in an environment where most others also have loud pipes means that you have to go that additional step further.

:laughing3:

Police strobes on track may help with his passing....passing noobs with their mirrors on anyways!

I could be wrong, but I think the question is really "is it legal to have red and/or blue strobing lights on the bike AT ALL" and not about having them on the track. Not a farfetched question, as HTA 172 applies on basically any road, public or private. I don't think the law says anything about this if it's not on public roads.

You want to put lights on your bike for a track day? Are you ok?

hope you have your flame suit on. i was not in that class...

Haha I was expecting these replies.
I am aware that it wouldn't pass tech.

It was a hypothetical question, about the legality of such a setup.

I still haven't gotten an answer. Is it "impersonating a police vehicle" if you're on a road track?

Why don't you just pass other riders the normal way and go around them instead of having to rely on the cherries to get them to give you a red carpet pass!

lol, you guys are terrible.

Short answer is no

You plan on pulling over riders who pass you?
