What did you do to your Race/Track Bike today - 2014

BAM!

I hope that's not mine and I have to wait another couple of weeks. I have one on b/o at St Onge and they haven't called to inform me that it's ready for pick up. I'll call them to find out. No worries.

Well, this is what I did today, here's my super cheap '91 ZX7 track bike finished.
Bodywork by Squidskins, painted with Canadian Tire rattle cans.
Added used 3 way Penske rear shock + drained, flushed & replaced all fluids, new Dunlop Q3 tires, new wheel bearings.
My first time ever tackling a project like this & my first ever dedicated track bike, all done over the winter in a Can Tire Shelterlogic tent thingy.

Wow that looks great smudger especially for a spray bomb job!

Since I'm no longer using a catch can I had to make up a new way of holding my reg/rec. Giant pain but it turned out ok considering I used what I had laying around in the garage.

And dropped it off for some tuning.

Put the new numbers on and installed a Battery Tender battery lead before putting the seat back on.

Also did a test ride to make sure the brakes are okay (on my closed course).

Having some issues getting my laptop to communicate with the Kit ECU. I've read online that some USB-Serial adapter cables cause problems, so I had to find my old desktop PC in the basement and set that up to see if it can communicate via serial port. But then I couldn't find the keyboard... so I can't boot it up. Uggghh.

Replaced the clutch cable and installed the gear indicator yesterday.

Don't you just wish we still had carbureators and a cdi instead.

Not sure if serious.

Lol no but honestly I wish you could just plug things in and they worked. I've been fighting with my kit software for over a year and finally got it working properly. We shouldn't need to be software engineers to operate this stuff or need to hire one. I could only imagine what it would be like trying to use data acquisition and getting all that stuff working properly.

Oh, I see. Ouch. I don't think my opinion will be relevant here.

Got an old one for you at London Life Head Office if you would like it. Has a USB/PS2 split output on it, has been used by some random person in the building, and has not been cleaned. Functionality is assumed. :)
