****, since yesterday my bikes been making a very distinct ticking/flapping noise coming of the throttle(not when idling, and not when just riding around normally). i have a feeling its the valves since it hasnt done the valve adjustment yet, but google also said it could be the cct (i dont even know what that is...)?

i dunno, im planning on taking it for a valve adjustment soon after exams but its kind of scary riding with that sound :( could anyone just check it out for me? thanks in advance

Cam chain tensioner I believe .. That should go hand in hand with a valve adjustment of I'm not mistaken. Depending on bike I'm pretty sure it's not an easy check. If ur not doing the valves yourself I'd recommend bringing it in ASAP to get done ( someone correct me if I'm wrong).

I'm here

Ride:
Thurs @ 6:30pm leaving shortly after.
Meet Spot: Value Village parking lot just off Sportsworld Drive
Destination: Lake Erie Twisties
Length: 3-3.5hrs: Come with tanks full...We'll have a decent break halfway for fuel. It might be dark by the time we get back so this is not M1 friendly.
Pace: Noob Friendly

May be in .. Might go out for the thurs ride out in Mississauga. A little far but last time it was a killer time. (steeles and financial)

If it is a sound around the 5,000rpm mark that sounds kind of like bee's in a can then that would most likely be your CCT.
Not sure what bike you have off the top of my head but Honda's are notorious for it.
The CCT is about $70 and not too difficult to change (Have to lift the tank and 2 bolts on my bike).
I have changed it when I got my bike and have to do it again (Last about 20,000km).

at 5000 the sound isnt there anymore, its only coming off the throttle around 3-4, and it doesnt sound like a bee at all lol
i have a ninja 250 09. also is there any reputable shops around here i can bring it in to?

Chain noise/slack or front sprocket noise from a slack chain maybe?

I think I'll be in as well :) twisties sounds too fun to turn down... plus I have a GPS for my bike now so I can make my way there and back home without needing an escort(s) LOL! see you tmo everyone!

Also, since we're kinda talking about it, how do you know when your bike is due for a valve adjustment? My bike's at about 8500km and I'm betting it probably hasn't been done before.

Mine were recommended at I believe it was about 28k.
KW Honda told me that majority of bikes that get them checked on their first inspection are fine.

If it's a Ninja 250, you can put it off until 24k.
