Craft Beer: What are you drinking now??

Barrel aged.
I still have a couple 2013, and some 2014 vintage of the rwg tempest imp. stout in the fridge as well.

Crazy Farm by Prairie Sun out of Saskatoon. Nice easy drinking ale. Luckily travelling for work lets me fill up my growler.

Speaking of, the places I've called in the GTA say they only fill their own. What's the point of having one?

Any suggestions of good micro breweries that actually want to sell beer?

welcome to Ontario health and safety, they use your growler that you didnt maybe scrub clean, you throw up and sue them. I think they all want to sell beer, they may be bound by some wacky rules.

I had a Duchesse De Bourgogne from the cellar sitting for a few years. https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/641/1745/. Very nice, especially on these winter nights. Aging mellows it out a bit.

Also had a few Red Racer IPA again. You know the deal from my earlier posts. Really great. https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/10321/49058/

I've also had a few cocktails.

White russian with whipping cream (35%). :D. Can't have it on a diet. Love the pour, shown in the picture.

I don't know what it is about this time of year, but The Big Lewbowski movie is back on rotation on my tv movie channels this holiday season (again). A great holiday/winter drink and TBL on TV reminds me of it on cue.

Innis & Gunn have a 4 pack at the LCBO that includes a mystery beer, no label just a tag that says saison beer. Its a nice surprise and a real treat

Any tasting notes on the mystery beer?

I'm going to say it tastes like a milder version of the oak barrel aged with maybe a bit more hop? It was pretty smooth and mild for a scottish beer. Nothing that makes a huge impression, but I'm ok with that these days. I'm liking a beer that tastes like beer.

No love there. I'll wait a bit longer to see if anyone figures it out.

Tonight I pulled out a treasure (for me). Trappist Westvleteren 12 (XII). Been cellared for a few years now. That amazing trappist quad flavour but even better. Perfect carbonation, and so balanced in flavours and the overall flavour profile. The best balanced quad I've had from memory. Beautiful esters in the smell and from first sip through to a medium long finish.

A crazy rare beer, and probably the most sought after in the world. For those that are more interested. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westvleteren_Brewery

I have a Beau's New Lang Syne in the fridge for the night before NY (I am playing at Little Texas in Kingston NYE, so must remain relatively sober). Looking forward. I had the Westvleteren 12 last year... very good but would likely have been even better, cellared for a while. As with many things, your mood and your previous palate matter a lot with impressions.

I have two Kentucky Bastards in my cellar now and tomorrow Juggernaut drops at Stone City Ales. I give up on my racing diet for a couple weeks.

So far I've bought two Xmas gift packs of Gouden Carolus that have the 4 assorted bottles and the glass.....all for myself. This stuff is absolutely fantastic, all 4 of them. Perfectly balanced for such a strong series of beers. I'm going to keep buying the damn things until they sell out. My wife's getting a bit ticked off with the growing number of glasses laying around though.

I really enjoy Gouden Carolus Cuvée Van De Keizer, have a few tucked away. They remind me of a lot of quadrupels. Belgians are my fave. https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/1534/6947/

Cool on the Megadeth Unibroue; definitely a lower abv option from them. I also picked up some more fin du monde and maudite today for over the holidays .

I recently opened up a Le Trou Du Diable barVolo 25th Anniversary Sour Blend. Very nice. Soft and more nuanced than the various Drie Fonteinen and the Cantillon beers I've had. More recently I've gotten into wild and lambic style beers; really different and great. May be an acquired taste for some. https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/13605/100016/

Picked up the forked river coffee porter and the bourbon barrel imp stout.
Also grabbed russian gun imp stout.
Christmas day beers...

I have a similar glass.
It's much larger though ; )

I forgot to reveal the easter egg earlier, in the picture of the white russian.
