Benefits of owning multiple bikes

Was cleaning the triumph after riding in the rain all day, noticed the radiator a bit shaky, looks like it’s missing a bolt, the other two bolts holding it are snug, it had been in the shop a few days ago for first service, coincidence or negligence?

Probably not safe to ride yeah? I’ll be taking the Ktm out it seems

I doubt the service needed to pull the radiator. Now, I assume the service schedule had a check bolts component that they may have screwed up on. My money is on loose from factory and vibrated out.

Negligence might be a strong word... oversight or mistake would be kinder.

The first service on a triumph includes about 2 hours of labour allocated to inspections and retorquing of fasteners.

This is where you scratch your head and ask yourself. Did they do all those check/inspect/retorque things I paid a premium for in a Factory Dealer Service?

While covering downtime is a benefit, this should not be the reason for owning 2 bikes.

Well......... What "first" service would involve checking rad bolts? If a rad fastener bolt fell off, or was never there, this is an assembly / factory issue, nothing to do with a routine service check IMO.

If you read the official service schedules, most have something along the lines of "check fasteners for tightness". I doubt it it often done well but it gives the manufacturer something to point at if things go wrong.

....yeah.... us plebs would just fix it and ride it.

One of the downsides of multiple bikes? I dropped $1400 on tires the other day
Tires… insurance…. Those are the biggies.

Particularly hard when you’re replacing tires because of age instead of miles.

There's still the two bolts up top. Its not like its going to fall off.

I have coffee cans full of bolts from multiple bikes.

Things happen.

Zip tie?

If you need a nut and bolt, I'm in Georgetown by the mall.

Pretty sure you're on Heritage Rd.

And storage. How am I going to fit bike #7 in when I find it??

+1 with @bitzz just slip in a new bolt, or a hank of safety wire. You could even use a heavy duty zip tie , although that's more of a KLR fix really.

I remember Triumps and Nortons from the 70s.
If bolts where not falling out you where not riding!

KLRs can live outdoors.

Off my 2014 str.

Pretty basic nut and bolt. I wouldnt be riding back to GP Bikes for this...

Tried to upload another pic. Tapatalk said it was an "adult image".

Looked like a rad guard and a bracket to me. Bike porn?
