Do you know if Textra will use data? I was looking at it and it seems like it may work for me. As long as it doesn't eat into my data.

It's an sms app. However larger messages will use a little data (mms)

Thanks @nfq just wanted to make sure it wasn't one of those wifi or data texting apps. If it works in conjunction / instead of the native sms/mms app, then that will do.

Signal or WhatsApp are data based messaging apps that are good too. They use very little data and have easy to use broadcast features.

@nfq just tried textra. Seems alright. Only issue is that I sent a text to 40 people but the app deleted 4 people from the list on it's own.
I need to check if there is a 36 person limit, or maybe because I just transferred over my SIM
Edit: just got a text while typing this. Was able to answer without having to exit this app. That was cool.

Those are called toast notifications. They pop up at the top and you can reply quickly without leaving your existing app.

The next evolution to your mass texting game would be to use a data based program like GroupMe or WhatsApp, for broadcast messages. With GroupMe, if they don't have that app, they receive the message as an sms.

Otherwise make 3 groups of 30?

@-D- where in settings do I set up that "cheese" camera feature?

@nfq 2nd con with Textra: some people when replying are replying to all by default

And when I split the group back into 2 all the messages went through

There is a lot there and you will benefit on features of your phone.

*turn on the camera and say cheese or LG it will take the pic...flip camera to front and take a selfie, lol

Textra has a dark theme (btw, changed most of my apps to that as well. I'm all about battery life)
And found the schedule text feature there as well.
Will look into chomp. If it can send to 50 ppl at once that would be better.

I think it's easier on your eyes to see information and less eyestrain.
