Stupidly overpriced motorcycle for sale thread

Seriously though, how big of a hassle would it be to fix that yourself?

Really depends on what caused it, how much damage there is (block intact or not, etc?) as well as how much damage happened along with it.

Could end up being an entire new engine required.

Don't forget crank damage. Friend spun one on a CBR 600 years back. Nearly $4k bill by the time all was said and done.

Easiest & cheapest way to fix it is to swap the motor

Absolutely agree. Unless you're building for track your better with the swap. Even if you have rebuild skills and access to a machine shop, salvage engines are cheap; $700-1300USD on Ebay. For comparison new crank will run you a min $1000; plus con rod; plus cap and bearing; plus plus plus.

@MattRain. If you think you can R&R an engine you'd be looking at investing 2k max to get a good low mileage engine in with all the misc fluids etc. But to be worth while you'd have to get this guy down to $1000 imo... long way from his asking price

It's a crank bearing. Engine out top end apart, split the cases. Remove crank, send out for machining, then reverse the steps. Easy peasy.

with regards to that GSXR with the mint motor , something is off about those fairings too, the graphics in particular. like they are not OEM, or they have been modified. couldve been dropped, since the side and tail fairings are all white when they should have blue too...

I almost wonder if some of the crazy pricing is actually smart, and a result of a wife or girlfriend (or husband or boyfriend) telling them to sell the bike. So they post it for a crazy amount, and say "Well I've posted it, but I want to keep riding until it sells".

This one takes the cake! The guy is delusional.

That one is $2,000 max, personally I would buy it for a thousand. Where do people get these prices from? I mean one look on kijiji and you see several posted for thousands less, why would you think yours will sell?

Special Snowflake Syndrome applies to bikes now.

But look at that list of mods!
It has a Yoshimura Oil Filler Plug...a Yoshimura Oil Filler Plug...don't you know how rare that is? Clearly, it improves the bikes value by at least a couple grand over sticker.
