Rider's foot impaled by sharp stick (do not open if squeamish)

Saw that on Facebook.

Lots of people said it was fake. A guy that was there posted this.

Looks like a Gaerne sg-12.

I have a set of sg-10. Quality boots. Must have been alot of momentum on that stick to go through those boots.
Pretty sure there's a thin steel plate in the bottom...

But if there was, the stick still would have gone through the top of his foot, and then, what...? Stopped at the shank in the sole? What would have happened then? Ripped his foot off the peg at the least, thrown him off his bike?

I shudder to think of alternative scenarios. o_O

I'm not going to search for it, but I have seen a video of a guy getting a stick clean through his thigh, which is a potentially fatal injury if you get anywhere near the femoral artery.

When I was riding dirt, my number one concern was impaling hazards. I would always stop to move broken branches off the trail, especially if they were at chest height.

Just imagine how many hundreds of thousands of years we hunted things like mammoths with nothing more than sharpened sticks.
