Looking to see if there's any interest in one or two more people for a moto trip next month to loop the South West USA.

Planned route;

It's not quite exact route, as we plan to travel pretty much the entire length of the California Pacific Coast Highway up to Legget.

Brief Overview;

Currently myself and a female friend are up for this. We're looking at around 9 days of riding, about 4-5hrs per day. Bike rental pickup and drop off in Vegas. We want to leave in the morning to arrive at our destinations after lunch, so we can enjoy the area for the afternoon/evening. We'll go cheap hotel/motel while riding and maybe splurge on a nicer room for our last night in Vegas. Pack a 30L backpack or Duffel bag that can be strapped to the bike. Bring helmet on the plane as your personal item. We will probably book a non budget airline to avoid some hassle here.
  1. Day 1: Fly into Vegas, head right to rental and head East to Antelope Canyon
  2. Day 2: Head South to Phoenix & spend the night in the area
  3. Day 3: Head West to San Diego & spend the night in the area
  4. Day 4: Head NW to Arroyo Grande & spend the night in the area
  5. Day 5: Head NW to San Francisco & spend the night in the area
  6. Day 6: Head NW to the Redwood National Park & spend the night in the area
  7. Day 7: Head E/SE back towards Vegas, stop location TBD
  8. Day 8: Head SE towards Vegas, stop location TBD
  9. Day 9: Finish trek back to Vegas, return bikes, enjoy the day/night and return flight next day
  10. Day 10: Fly back
We're fairly flexible on dates; currently we're thinking;

June 6 - June 15
June 16/17- June 25/26

If you`re interested please PM me and let's discuss further.

Cheers,

Evo

Wondering what the cost of a trip like this would be?

Just curious. How much are you budgeting for bike rental and which bike?

Good question.

I’d say probably 3500-4k all in. Unless we start sharing rooms and stuff.
I'd say that would be a little low, summer travel in California can get pricy.

Flight $300 discount airline, $800 for a national carrier.

Bike rental, 10 days $1100 to $3500. R18s are the cheapest at $105/day.

Mileage surcharge = .50/mile, $1000 for the trip.

Insurance, $300.

Fuel, 50 gallons @ $6.75 = $335

Motel, $120/night (Motel 6) outside cities, $250 in big cities. 10 days $1200 min.

Food. Can vary, but I'd say $50/day would be low while travelling, $500.

That's almost $5k at the no frills end. Add $250/day if you stay in cities, a few bucks for roadside attractions and you hit $6k for a no frills trip.

Currently i'm in discussions with Hertz Motorcycle Rentals out of Vegas for a BMW R1250GS

So $1,870 US with Damage Waiver, i can skip insurance based on my benefits.
