With the diesel, you'd be surprised how well it does, especially for a big truck. I went to Elliot Lake with my brother, I pulled a 22' enclosed trailer full, he pulled a 5x9 with his 4.7l gas Toyota tundra. He used three tanks, over $300, I went round trip $135, got home with an 1/8 of a tank.
