If you're considering Plasti-dip for renewable stone chip protection, then another alternative might be 3M 8671HS protective tape. Read about this stuff on another forum I frequent. This tape is a clear exterior vinyl tape which is used by commercial/military aviation to protect aircraft and helicopter rotor leading edges from wear and abrasion. Available through Ebay from various sellers; in rolls of varying widths. This is an example of a 5" wide strip applied to the leading edge of a bike's spoiler.
