Any weird hobbies out there?

As does my Mrs. Please confirm - the fabric that I can readily see, is all that she owns, yes? ;)

She's now being commissioned for custom quilts, but with the amount of time she puts in - I'd be astounded if she's clearing minimum wage. Keeps her busy though, and she enjoys it.

Oh gosh no, we are hoarders. Whenever someone in my family dies (aunt for example) I snap up all the vintage stuff. Then I make something for the "kids". Two really cool bbq aprons went to my male cousins out of some fabric I liberated from their mom.

A quilted bike cover would be pretty sweet

I did that for a friend. Used his old race t-shirts and made a Tshirt quilt. Arm logos/small leftover bits were quilted onto an existing bike cover. It's really just a dust cover for the bike in the garage but looks awesome.

I sing, and play the cello, really ****ing well. For some reason, everyone is either surprised or amazed when they find out.

Plus you are humble. Lol.

No one thinks quilting is cool. Well no one under 70 that is. It's relaxing for me and I either get it right (lines/corners match up), or it's wrong. I like the black and white scenarios.

Great. Now you go and throw the race card in!

Classic. Though I prefer Baroque because of Bach. The link you posted has a double bass in it though, not a cello. A cello is like 1/4 the size (and a violin 1/4 the size of a cello lol)

Recently I've been jamming to random stuff like Power Rangers, Pokemon, etc. I also found out electric cellos can be distorted like guitars.....which means I can mimic electric guitar sounds. Just gotta save up around $5,000 for an electric cello, amp, and whatever else I need to start distorting!

Anyone else spend a ridiculous amount of time playing instruments?

I came to appreciate the skill and art in quilting after a visit to Steinbeck Manitoba a few years back. They have a quilting room at their pioneer village and the work they turn out is awesome. Not awesome enough to get me started but awesome enough to give them two thumbs up.

I could go for a barn quilt motorcycle tour if the route was sprinkled with butter tarts.

You might want to give a little "Nash the Slash" a listen. He used to play an acrylic electric violin (or a regular one with pick-ups) in concert.

I totally get why. We start off as kids with way too much free time on their hands, some spend it drinking/socializing, and Asians have parents that beat them if they aren't playing instruments lol

20+ years later, now that we all have full time jobs and no time for any creativity, the artsy ones have a skill to communicate their feelings/emotions without actually talking. I'd imagine its the same for anything creative.

And @ Rob, I was thinking more along the lines of guitar solos like
