The 883 is a reasonable bike in it's class -- mid weight cruisers. Of all the bikes in this class, I think the HD's win hands down in the style category -- no Japanese mid weight bike come close IMHO.I thought motorcycles were meant as a form of therapy. I like all bikes, but unfortunately can only afford one. As far as the 883 goes I will probably never own one, I was just admiring its style, beautiful looking bike plain and simple no chrome or gadgets and most importantly original.
The reason this bike lacks 'respect' is largely at the behest of HD owners riding the Sportster's sisters. The 883, (and all other Sportsters) are considered beginner to wannabees by the traditional HD crowd - unless it's ridden by a 'Property of' or new-to-lifestyle Harley chick.
It's always perplexed me as to why HD owners classify the 883 as a beginner bike. All HDs are designed with novice riders in mind, always have been, Sportsters are just the smallest version in the HD lineup.
