I've done a lot of work at Base Borden over the years. They have quite the fleet of klr 250 dual sports from the early 90's. The mechanic I talked to said that he's never seen anyone use them but he still maintains them.

from what I've heard
main reason they were made with diesel engines
is that military does not usually have petrol on hand
