The Riders Who Won't Wave Back...

How do I post to this forum?

Like most riders, rode yesterday.
Must have passed at least 50-60 riders. Every single one of them waved.
Somebody loves me.
Sure beats getting the finger from e-bikes. Lol. True.

Whats the deal with ebikes anyways? The HTA says you need a license, insurance blah blah blah with any motorized vehicle. It does not specify gasoline or electric.

Ebikes, so long as they adhere to the 32KPH (IIRC) speed and have pedals, are not considered a "Vehicle" in the eyes of the HTA, they are considered a "electrically assisted bicycle" and accordingly are exempt from all that pesky stuff.

Of course, as any Ebike discussion here quickly points out, the lines are getting blurred now as Ebikes are basically turning into near motorcycles, and of course people take the pedals off and hotwire the electrical system to exceed the 32KPH limit.

If you got caught by police with one of these would you not be treated like you riding an electric motorcycle? I guess the chances are slim but in theory I'd expect it to apply.

100% yes, but police enforcement of ebikes in general is pretty much nil.

Have you or anybody else thought that it could be a Veteran. Not able to ride a motorcycle. I wave at anybody. Milfs, kids Milfs, Then some more Milfs.

Don't care why they're riding one. I just don't consider Spyders to be motorcycles, therefore; no wave.

Street legal wheeled snow mobiles, lol.

While I was out a couple weeks ago, a jogger, bicyclist, and a few motorcycles did wave/wave back/nod.

I was actually quite surprised at the jogger though. Granted this was all along the stretch going north to King City.

when riding through residential areas with people on foot
or on country roads with folks walking the dog
I find it common to have people wave
I tend to think it's in thanks for not riding like an idiot through their neighborhood

Took a break near an quiet river bridge during a weekend ride, at the bottom of a small valley. Can-am roars over the rise, down the hill without checking speed. Proceeds to bottom out on the bridge, sparks flying. Could have made some You Tube dollars if I had a camera.

As a new rider, I won't be taking the risk of taking my hand off the grip till I know im comfortable enough to give a wave back. That being said, I'll wave whenever I can.

I usually give them a lot of space or slow down and they often wave in acknowledgement..
