STOLEN - 2014 BMW HP4 (from downtown during the day)

The most likely change would be banning motorcycles from parking in the condo, imo.
They will always take the easy way out.

They've already banned us from parking next to a walkway at the building where the hp4 was stolen... so i wouldn't have any trouble imagining them doing the same in the garage if it's an issue.

Hard to believe with those camera during the day and people coming in/ out (mostly out as it's end of working day) no one saw or reported something suspecious. There's always someone watching at the console and the security guard would have not noticed anything suspecious?

It takes 1-2mins for them to load the bike and take off. Depending on how far away the security office is, it could take them up to 5 minutes to get to that location. That being said, no one is going to jump in front of a van to stop them from leaving the lot either - rather, the person driving the van would probably pull an aggressive maneuver to get away.

Exactly. On P2 in the motorcycle area. The CCTV caught the whole act, but too bad the cameras couldn't get a good image of the 2 scumbags. Funny how that happened with so many cameras in the area. The police investigation has begun and I will post updates. I'm sure someone inside tipped these idiots off. The building has never had this happen before and are changing their security protocols, policies and schedules. The parking is operated by Parklink which operates other lots around the city. I bet there is a pattern. Just look at all the people working at that time and cross reference with other Parklink thefts to see if there are the same people working at those times.

Like I said previously, these A holes are likely labourers with some sort of maintenance crew that was recently in the building. They learn the lay of the land, where to find the bikes, how to access the building and whatever else they need to know while they're in there doing legit business.

That sucks man! What's the badge number of your HP4? It's a very special bike and I hate to see it stolen. Hope the insurance treats you fairly, just ****** to be without a bike in high summer.

I say most likely (not actually) because of the incidents that have happened to family and friends. My grandmother's old condo garage was cleaned out after the floors were washed... didn't think anything of it until 3 months later when the guys were caught in the act elsewhere and subsequently charged in her buildings case. Since then, anytime someone I personally know has had their buildings security breached, I ask if they can recall work being done in the weeks leading up to the theft. More often than not, there was. Is that proof? Of course not. But it is more likely than a "tip off" IMHO. Then again it is just my opinion...

Well said.
Guy with a wrench isn't less honest than a guy in a suit.
Hell, look at all the money laundering issues and investment scams...

Badge 2471. It really does suck. Working with insurance now. It's very expensive to replace.

I know it would be hard to replace, I have the luxury of parking mine in my garage and not out of sight anywhere else, but it's still a bike so don't worry too much. It sucks now, but keep up the spirits and start looking at new ones (it's a fun enough distraction; There is one available in Victoria, BC for sale. ).

My friend also got his HP4 stolen as well in markham overnight. It was his second bike stolen within 5 months from his parking spot. Security footage as well couldn't get the license plate so useless. Why have cameras in the first place if everything is blurry. here's the footage of the 2 guys taking it in like 10 sec. Sorry for your loss i couldn't even imagine.

It did not appear as if he had a chain around his bike.
If you have such an expensive bike and live in a condo and already had one stolen then one would think the least you would do is have 2 of those super tough chains and an alarm connected. If you have the money to spend on a toy such as an HP4 then you should have a few $ to spend on security.

If you live in a condo you have nothing to chain it to. Also the building won't allow any installation of anything for you the chain your bike too. He had an alarm on it as well. (basically stolen with the bike)

This crossed my mind recently. I wouldn't mind talking to a lawyer about this.
It doesn't really fall under the ordinary categories - http://www.attorneygeneral.jus.gov.on.ca/english/courts/scc/
I then thought of negligence or carelessness, which may be the closest reasoning for the lawsuit - http://paralegaltoronto.ca/?page_id=84
I need to look in to this more.

I'm surprised no one has done this before. The general attitude is "thats whats insurance is for" , but for sure , in some buildings there has been a pattern over the years. I know 2 people at Yonge/Sheppard who had their bikes taken in condos where other bikes have been nicked.

Also, we would need a police force and insurance industry that cares...
