STOLEN - 2014 BMW HP4 (from downtown during the day)

Is it oddball enough that it will be hard to market?

I doubt it, unless i'm dumber than I thought everything will cross over to the s1000rr.

True.
But I'd love to see the mofo that could lift that bike!

Likewise. No way he just picked it up one time, he did it one wheel at time for sure.

Sorry for your lost dude ?

Lightning doesn't hit the same place twice ... but then again, let's not take any chance on the next bike to park it at the same place.

One guy lift the ride?? Whoah that's sick! Must have been spotting the bike for a while...

Speaking of which, how often does bikes get stolen? Does the lock feature in the ignition is enough? Or would you guys put an alarm on the bike ... your thoughts??

From underground parking, bikes are stolen a LOT. The lock feature does not do much, at best it will stop *some* people from wheeling your bike around. You can put an alarm on it, and it might help a bit... some insurers will give you a break on theft for having one, even. All you can really do is have theft insurance on it, as these "my bike got chucked in a van" stories are pretty common.

Update: minivan had Quebec plate. Probably stolen. And, an inside job. The building had never had this problem before. No way these thiefs were cruising around the parking lot. They were in there for less than 15 minutes. Someone tipped them off. It's with Toronto Police now. I'll try and get the CCTV coverage and post it.

i was fully covered. I'm just upset. Probably time to think about the next bike. The Ducati XDiavel S looks nice.

As in Waterpark place!?

HA! And they're forcing us to park down there? NO THANK YOU.

Probably wouldn't have happened if it was parked outside with all the other bikes as theres more foot traffic in that area (well at least more than in the underground) and is RIGHT IN FRONT of the Auditoriums... i often see security guards in the area or staff taking a smoke break.
A security guard even accosted me as i was walking in (with my helmet) indicating that motos couldnt park there although i was parked elsewhere. Seems like they patrol it often.

I'm really sorry for your loss...but building management hasn't helped at all and I'll definitely bring it to their attention. Were you parked in the 8-spot area for motorcycles?

He lifts.

Seriously, though, I could see this happening with my little 2 stroke but an HP4 weighs a good 100 lbs more.
Its a 430 lbs bike wet.

I dont lift and dont consider myself strong but ive been able to mine easy the 2-3 times ive tipped it over while moving it (off the bike lol). So someone who lifts would definitely be able to do that easy. (as a reference my bike weighs about the same thing)

Exactly. On P2 in the motorcycle area. The CCTV caught the whole act, but too bad the cameras couldn't get a good image of the 2 scumbags. Funny how that happened with so many cameras in the area. The police investigation has begun and I will post updates. I'm sure someone inside tipped these idiots off. The building has never had this happen before and are changing their security protocols, policies and schedules. The parking is operated by Parklink which operates other lots around the city. I bet there is a pattern. Just look at all the people working at that time and cross reference with other Parklink thefts to see if there are the same people working at those times.

Oh, that was directed at clyder. I definitely was not doing a "you should have known better" or whatever, I figured you would have theft on an HP4. It does suck because there aren't many other HP4s in Canada you could get your hands on

I'm pretty sure they don't really have any bodies walking the underground except maybe the valets in 88QQ... so would have to be the person in charge of handling the cameras.

I guess your next step is to get an H2 as a bait bike to catch them :p

Hard to believe with those camera during the day and people coming in/ out (mostly out as it's end of working day) no one saw or reported something suspecious. There's always someone watching at the console and the security guard would have not noticed anything suspecious?

Beautiful bike, sorry to hear. My CBR was taken weeks ago, same issue, ****** camera footage and a stolen van was all that was caught. Security is useless in all underground complexes.

Why do people that own bikes believe that anyone cares about you or your bike?
It's rampant, condo bike thefts, they all know it, they circulate information..yet the problem persists.
Some how you guys need to make the building accountable since you pay maint fees for SECURITY.
Sue them in small claims court for loss of enjoyment and or bike costs.

This crossed my mind recently. I wouldn't mind talking to a lawyer about this.
It doesn't really fall under the ordinary categories - http://www.attorneygeneral.jus.gov.on.ca/english/courts/scc/
I then thought of negligence or carelessness, which may be the closest reasoning for the lawsuit - http://paralegaltoronto.ca/?page_id=84
I need to look in to this more.

I think one could make a claim for negligence...What precautions did they implement to prevent the thefts?
What about repeat thefts? Hell, sue the condo board too and watch the changes start rolling in everywhere.
It seems like a realistic shot at this.

I say it worth a shot, specially if there's a trend and people are starting to voice their concerns. If no one says anything, there won't be any resolution. Living in a condo and reading about all those thieves around the city concerns me as well. Words and tips goes around the city among them as a gold mine of info and material that's for sure.

The most likely change would be banning motorcycles from parking in the condo, imo.
They will always take the easy way out.

My 2014 BMW HP4 was stolen from my office - at 10 Bay Street - in the underground at 4:20pm today. I'm still in disbelief that this happened. Some large set man driving a black minivan drove up to it, lifted it and placed it inside his minivan in less than 10 seconds and drove off. Fortunately there were security cameras everywhere as this is a Class "A" building. The security office is working with the police and hopefully I will be reunited. However, in the meantime these bikes are rare.

VIN: last digits 64668.

Sorry to hear brother.
