Just did the upgrade. Seems like a winner. Hopefully not a **** up like Vista.

The search bar at the bottom is annoying. I want to get rid of it. Any suggestions how?

Also, what's so good about Microsoft Edge?

Right click anywhere on the taskbar and a menu appears with search tool option at the top. It allows you to remove the search box from the taskbar.

Tried Edge for about 30 seconds. The amount of ads on the average website is shocking. Back to Chrome w/Adblock.

Windows 10 itself seems fine. It windowses.

Jimmy Fallon Joke:

Why did they go from Windows 8 to 10 instead of 9?

Because Windows 7 8 9... get it

knee slap.

Shouldn't be a Vista.

Windows releases are in the cycle of major - minor - major - minor. Windows 8 was the minor release, that's why it's Windows 10 now instead of 9. It should be the good.

Windows 9 was skipped because there may be compatability issues, since there are still reference in software to older Windows 9x versions, drivers, etc. out there.

Was Windows 9.0 really that bad?

I'm still on 7.

Man windows 8 is honestly brutal. Might be good for tablets but for my PC it's terrible.

I miss the old windows "start" button.

edit: what?!?? I had a free upgrade to windows 10 this whole time!!

It's only been distributed to the public starting this month. You're not behind the curve.

My surface pro 3 now behaves the way it should have done with Windows 10, it's a definite upgrade over 8.1. I can't force my windows 7 machine to upgrade though....any ideas?

if your a business user, apparently there are already some glitches appearing with different spreadsheet apps and programs that worked with 8. As well as anything worked with 8. My IT guy told the company top wait till Oct to download when they de glitch. I know little about this ****.

my son's computer lost all sound when upgrading to windows 10 - used option to step it back to 8 but it left some drivers behind that caused other issues. Sorted it all out by manually replacing drivers.
will be waiting a few months before updating all the PC in the house

A free upgrade to Windows 8.1 from 8 also allowed you to re-enable the start button (kind of).

The drivers would also most likely still be in C:\Windows\System32. If you go to your Device Manager, you can look for the drivers with a ! (missing), right click, install driver manually, and search in C:\Windows\System32 and it should pick up the previous driver.

I heard that you had to pay a yearly subscription to Microsoft for some basics such as Solitare =/? This would lead me to believe that they're planning to introduce more features in the future available only to those who pay for their subscription. Didn't have the time to do the upgrade yet. Sounds like Windows 7 is still the winner though.

I'm just happy to have the start menu back. I love that thing. Whenever someone at Microsoft gets a bright idea like remove the start menu someone should smack that person at the back of their head. Microsoft - face it, you're not that bright or creative. Stick to what you do best.

I always have my laptop plugged into my tv via hdmi and boy does that **** with it.
(even when unplugged) the tool/taskbar doesn't work, can't click on anything, and then when you plug in the hdmi, it'll put the task bar in the middle of the screen on both the laptop and tv.
Then it will also do a screen-in-screen type thing on my tv but with my desktop. You just can't click on the icons on either of the "screens" on the tv.
Lasted a day, back to 8.1. Working 90%, 100% of the time is better than whatever 10 gave me.

Been running it since it launched, generally it's okay. They are still hammering down bugs but it's very use-able. 99% of the problems people are going to see are driver related - for older hardware the situation may never improve. However for me personally the upgrade was 100% painless

Yeah, I think rolling out Edge w/out extension support is a bit premature.

I like Win 10, a HUGE improvement from Win 8 and an improvement over 7... from my limited use. I like the look, very slick and modern, no more tiles for non touch devices. Runs very fast on my i7 PC. I have done nothing heavy with it so cannot comment on that. Have not used the new browser, not interested in learning something new when Chrome works for my PC needs. I think Windows got it right with this and it will only improve. Looks like they actually listened to peoples outrage about Win 8.
