Seeking help in looking for a Sport Tourer

Budget? Where do you want to be on the sporty-tourist spectrum? What's your favourite colour and band?

Try an adventure bike they are the best sport touring bikes going. BMW GS, KTM adventure, or Yamaha ST. would be a good place to start.

Lots of choice depending on what your objectives and budget are.

The BMW R1200 RS or S1000 XR would top my list. But the new Yamaha FJ09 would be a good and more affordable option.

FJR1300, Honda ST1300 or Multistrada are all good sport tourer.

it all really boils down to your budget and how much power you can afford in terms of insurance

dont overlook the vstrom 1000, versys 1000 and the FZ1

The VFR800 might be an option tho it tips a bit to sports side rather than two up touring.

It's a complete redo for 2014

does have factory luggage

but can't image that's too comfortable for a passenger.

Sold my last bike today so advice on a suitable two-up sport tourer for 2015.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

So many options!! Like others have asked, what is your budget?

Unlike sport bikes, sport touring rides are not all the same. There really are some that will suit your needs much better than others. It will be hard to give you good advice without getting more detail on what you're looking for. Something more on the sporty end of the spectrum like a VFR or a Kawi Ninja 1000? Or something more like an adventure touring bike like a Triumph Tiger or BMW GS?

There certainly are LOTS of options.

My budget is up to $10K.

I would neede a bike that is also comfortable for a female passenger.

I had a Vstrom DL1000, dependable but boring. The passenger riding seat was quite good however.

I like the suggestions of a BMW or a multi cylinder Jap bike.

What about the larger VFR's?

Sport Touring, budget 10k, two-up riding, no 'boring' engines.

I'd say a (slightly used) Triumph Tiger 800. Hits all those boxes (except maybe motorcycle genre by pure definition) and can fulfill many more.

Your passenger is happy with the back seat on a V-Strom? Really?

2nd generation Hayabusa.
It's an interesting design but if you like it, you could find a great one for 10k $.

Go to the bike show, sit on everything, if it's not comfortable to you, the specs and suggestions don't matter.

And I second the Hayabusa suggestion. It's a very comfortable bike, great for long distance, it's just got a notoriety that turns people off.

If you are considering a Hayabusa or a VFR then throw a k13s or even a K13GT into the mix.

Happy hunting.

the k13s is brilliant, but he'll have a hard time finding one for $10K.

Maybe not a K1300S, but a K1200S could easily be had

It might help to narrow the choices if you have some idea as to number of km per day / hours per day in the saddle as well as the overall length of the trips (days/km)you are planning. Also, are you leaning more toward Sport or Touring as ST bikes are all over the spectrum in terms of handling, comfort and power.

What about the larger VFR's?

My understanding from the vfr forums is the 1200's are even more sport-oriented than the 6th gens. They do though look nice (IMO) and the stock seating seems to be more comfortable.

I owned an FJR briefly which was too big a bike for my application, but missy was happy out back.

Sounds like you're looking for a sporty sport touring bike.

Triumph Sprint 1050
Honda VFR
Kawasaki Ninja 1000 (not to be confused with a ZX-10R)
Yamaha FJR
