He has a 905 phone number.

Automatically means he's of a lower class, and very likely to smoke drugs and eat cucumber sandwiches.

Ad has one fuzzy photo. I would stay away.

Could be a bait and beat scam. You show up with a fistfull of cash and he smashes your head open with a crowbar.

Theres something funny about the picture. See the advertisement for Tiemers Window & doors in the background, it's in Barrie - it's posted up in Hamilton. Ask where exactly the bike is located.

Check out his other adds - "i have a brand new touch screen white bold 9900 in the box never been opened. recieved two as gifts! asking 500 obo " - how do you receive 2 as gifts?

I'd pass.

Assuming the seller took the picture, I have never seen such a lush green lawn in Hamilton in January (he got the bike a about a month ago). Must be the micro climate being so close to the lake.

It doesn't have to prove anything for him to report it.

I can call the cops because there is a bunch of guys hanging outside my house without having to prove anything.

The idea that someone can't report something until they have bulletproof evidence is completely asinine. Why do I pay for cops if I have to do all the work?

And that's why you have people calling cops ... "There's a red bike speeding by my house regularly." Is that what you really want cops to be wasting time on?

I don't think people are expected to have ironclad evidence surviving a court interrogation, but a little more than kijiji & hearsay stuff would be helpful. I actually hope that authorities do not act on every blab, call, tweet or whatever ....

Why not before you go wasting the police stations time, just ask the guy for the VIN #? When you get it call and ask to run it in the system to see if its stolen.... If your really interested in buy the bike, you should ask for it anyways since he wont get the UVIP...wow is it that hard to understand....Am I the only one that has bought a used bike and done it that way before calling the police to report the seller "possibly" selling a stolen bike....

What's your home number again?

Everything from "not registered in my name" to "from Quebec" rings massive alarm bells. If you can get the VIN check it report it (might be a re-VIN), as doing your due diligence, then walk away from the situation.

... and I hate cucumber sandwiches.

has anybody thought about the fact, it could be a salvaged bike and he tried to register it here with no luck.

And now he wants to pawn it off on some unsuspecting person.

I know of 2 people know that bought bikes in Quebec, to get hit with a nice suprise when registering it here in Ontario.

Grass on the front yard in January is the most suspect thing on this whole thread.

I think Inferno might be right.

No one takes 1k off just like that

this was my thoughts when he said it wasn't in his name and the bike is from quebec. run away.

not to mention the use of the word "mint". that word always makes my spidey sense tingle.

You are comparing the red flags in this situation to "there is a red bike speeding by my house?". really?

PS. its not hearsay if the seller said it.. by the way.

I emailed her and she said she has had it for 4 months. Her bf bought it for her but its too fast. Id either go look in person (bring someone with you) or walk away from it.

different story... she said she just got it. never road it. her bf did buy it for her but she doesnt want to ride it.

But 4 months and never had it registered?

sounds like a curbsider, buy a bike cheap in Quebec and flip it here, if you want to report him you need to contact omvic, I dont think its worth contacting the police, If you want the bike do whats already been said get the uvip and have the bike inspected by a licensed mechanic to find out if its been crashed or has any mechanical issues, remember the uvip & cert are useless for reporting crash damage or the that the bike has major transmission problems or any other problems that aren't on the cert list

For 20 bucks, run the vin! Also the kijiji pic shows that it has/had a plate on it. Visit the bike, make a decision if not walk and look for something else.
