GTA Eats with Wifi - and anywhere in S Ontario you care to post :-)

Like to check in while riding and many places don't put signs out. So thought a thread listing places with free Wifi might be a good idea.

Having a spot to take a break and check for area roads for those of us GPS deprived also useful

If you want to comment on the food that's even better.

Two of my favs
Steens Dairy in Erin - fast wifi, good burgers and a BIG breakfast for cheap. Old school diner been there since the 40s.

The Shed in Belfountain - Forks of the Credit - not far from Steens.
Top end coffee - good wifi, lousy cell reception - great chairs and conversation.

Ernie's Place in Arthur - great wifi - big choice on the menu - decent prices. Pizza, sandwiches, you name it they serve it. :confused1:

Sunset Grill in Milton - haven't been but Adam the owner a previous client and my staff say it's a good place....free Wifi I understand.

I don't bring my laptop when I'm on 2 wheels and in most cases I don't even bring my cell (even though it's a good idea to call CAA). <-- Does this qualify this thread for General Motorcycle Discussion?

Wifi is so last year, doesn't everyone have iPhones now?

Even with an iphone, Wifi makes it way better.

But this is places to eat that have free Wi-Fi.

It looks like the OP likes to "check in" (whatever that means) while riding by those spots. Riding while "checking in" can be dangerous. If the OP means that he gets off his bike and grab a bite while "checking in," some of the mods should move this thread to Reviews

I refuse to pay for data on my phone so WiFi is good for me....

Some spots: The Cove in Westport (north of kingston) has WiFi if you eat there (good food too). I don't set foot in Starbucks because I find their coffee so-so and their business ethics lacking...but there's another chain around called Bridgeheads that has WiFi too.

If you are with Rogers for you internet you get 1 free hour of WiFi at any "hotspot" location. Also Starbucks are free.

good tip - wish there was a universal sign to show Hotspot or Wifi available - the way you used to look for the Bell phone little blue sign for a payphone.
Adam at Sunset says the WIFI is there still a work in progress but you should come check it out anyway :D and the roads west of there are much fun so it's a good meetup for breakfast to start off the day's riding....or take a break at lunch.

Seems a few spots in the GTA seem to think it's important

At least the City dwellers have a resource to go to.

Here's another attempt by way of googlemaps
http://gwifi.net/

gWiFi.net is an attempt to make it easier for the road-warrior's, students, free loaders etc to find locations that offer free wireless internet access by showing all free wireless nodes on a Map of a given area.
Forgot one

Coffee Culture in Ancaster - nice place to take a break. Decent food - so so coffee.

For the doubters - some of us actually work for a living and ride during the work week - if the info is of no use to you .....move on, move on, nothing to see here. ;)

I'll set up a ride with the idea of taking a break and catching up both with email and with forum sites. Posting up pics while they are fresh is fun and you can find out who's riding where.

Many regions have good motorcycle roads mapped - as we have here....
This site was great for the Adirondacks

Being able to plot out while having lunch or breakfast can really make a difference touring. On the PA ride we always had the laptops out when wifi was available to check good routes while we ate.

many Country Style Donuts ... I often camped out @ the one @ Woodbine & Steelcase to 'get away from the office' ... and still do work. Many of my most productive afternoons!

yeah - seems that management here doesn't think this of interest to motorcyclists - hence the consignment here :confused1:
you could make your opinion on that known if you care to
I get a ton of work done and get the rides in.

I'll look for that Rogers Hotspot sign....
