    Pillion Peg Turn Signals

    PASSENGER PEG SIGNALS

I thought these would help make me a bit more visible to traffic and it gave me something to do this winter!

If anyone's wondering, I just wired the6 LEDs in series with a 100 ohm resistor and then wired that entire circuit in parallel with the other signals. This should be safe for the LEDs up to 14V.

    video- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1SP-N_u28Y

    Board with LEDs soldered on

    Drilled peg assy.

LEDs hot glued into the peg assy.

    Total Cost:

    50 UltraBright Amber 3mm LEDs - $10
    PCB- $3
Wire, Solder, Hot Glue, Drill- Had lying around

I think $100 is a bit steep considering the cost of materials but I guess it does take a while to do. This way people will have an idea of how to do it if they choose to try it themselves.

That looks like it covers everything quite well, but you really shouldn't cut the PCB with a dremel. Depending on the boards those fumes can be really dangerous. It's much easier and cleaner to just score it a few times with a utility knife as deep as you can and then break it with some pliers.

Also I just noticed that he wired those in parallel, in which case that 100 ohm resistor should be a bit higher.

How weatherproof would you expect this to be?

I think it should be alright, the hot glue should keep the water out pretty well but I think I might coat it in a layer of silicone to get all the small cracks in case there are any.
