    Paint Stick Wheels...

Okay saw this mentioned on GTA in one of the threads and thought it would look good with my black rims and bodywork.

Real easy to do... Buy tires from Donald at Platinum Powersports.. heh
Buy a paint stick from CT, paint the raised lettering and presto, 15 min job.
Oh, the paint stick comes in an array of colours.

It doesn't hold up very well at all, I used the crappy tire tire pens on some tires years ago and it cracks off very quickly. It only stays looking this nice for a few days, I use to redo mine once and awhile until the pen was finished.

Yeah okay paint stick the tires... my bad!
I'm guessing they won't be on the bike for any great length of time anyway, ... I really don't care how long it lasts. I'll get a picture of my bike once its all set up for the track this spring (with my painted TIRES) and that will probably be the last time anything looks that good again.

the paint loaded pen holds up well....

i used a yellow one from my work...prob 20k later, rain, dry, never washing bike, it holds up fine.....but it doens't look that great after all the dirt gets on it.

if you get bored....you can write on the side walls to see how low your getting...

I can just see it now. A rider pulls up to a Timmie's with a marker in hand and writes POSER on the edges of the tire to see if it will be there for the rest of the season

Okay I know a lot of you are thinking this is a total waste of time but I've figured out how to make the paint stick idea last on the sidewalls of your tires... Use carpenters glue (or probably white Elmers glue) and a small paint brush to apply a very thin layer over the colored lettering, dries clear and puts a nice protective coating over the paint.

Carpenters glue dries yellow. So you should stick with regular white glue.

yea the problem is it'll wash off if you get caught in the rain or go over a puddle when some1's washing their cars in the driveway...

well, if we really want to get technical about this, the paint can be made to stay.

my friend is into airbrushing/painting. and there is a clear "sealer" that can be applied over the paint to "seal" it so that it will not rub off in rain or the such. the stuff is pretty permanent, might need to reapply eventually, but its pretty solid stuff.

unfortunately i dont know what it is called. but i do know that all art stores carry this stuff, just go in and ask, they'll be able to point you in the right direction.
