Going out of business sale ?
That's what I was thinking. I'm worried that we are going to lose one or more bike shops before this lock-down is over.
There is rent relief and some business grants out there.

I wonder if 'streetz' is CE rated

How are those kevlar jeans, compared to the ~$150 daniese ones I usually find on sale @ Fortnine/GP?

Currently riding with regular jeans...but definitely on the hunt for some protection.

good for you, wear gear!

Kevlar is where it's at, excellent abrasion resistance, your denim will shred in a second if you go down. You'll want the armor to absorb impact on your contact points (knees). Downside is on hot days they will trap the heat so get ready to sweat some.

If i were you i'd take a spin by GP Bikes in whitby sometime, they have a lot of brands you can check out and compare. Or Daytona perhaps, not familiar with their stock levels.

Not all riding jeans are created equal. Some toss in a thin strip of kevlar over the butt and knees, others are much more robust. Be wary of CE approval, too, as it often is limited to the knee armour they install. Seams are always a weak spot (no different from a lot of mesh gear), so look for double or triple stitched seams.

As a general rule, I've found that there's a scale between comfortable and protective, especially in summer. I have pairs of Bull-It and Resurgence jeans that feel as tough as most textile pants (and test results seem to bear that out), but they're like being wrapped in a blanket and are uncomfortably hot off the bike in warm weather. Other jeans are much closer to fashion jeans, but the trade-off is protection.

Most riding jeans will be an improvement over regular jeans, though. As @Evoex says, go try some on and see what works for you. There's lots of reviews online if you're unsure about which are best...

Check out Resurgence Kevlar riding jeans. I was knocked off my bike last fall and slid about 20-30ft. The Kevlar did its job...no road rash whatsoever. The hip pad saved me from some bruising and I just replaced them as they a bit at the hip where I hit the ground. Well worth the $200.
