Caponord Rally - advice taken, it's mine

One word of advice. They are beyond terrible in snow. Every time a cylinder fires, it spins the back tire a bit. In a few inches of wet snow it had taken me 45 minutes to cover a km.

Oh jeeez.Do you want to be squeezed out of a tube or shot out of a cannon?

here's the Rally I'm most likely to acquire
same bike but with 19" front, spoked wheels
some guarding and different panniers
crash bars and skid pan
I think the mapping and suspension are different too

seller has added a few things that I would add
centre stand, gel seat, screen extension

snow? (n)
please review the part about winters in S. America

Nice looking bike. Price looks good too, it only has 2K on the clock, your gonna save 30% over the cost of a new bike.

so I rescued the Italian Princess today
from her fate as a neglected Garage Queen

I will ride her regularly and love her dearly
2 years old and <2,000 km....shameful

but I get a bike as mint as mint can be
bonus is a little bit of warranty left which is re-assuring
will put up a pic after I get her home on Monday

then she goes to George at Corsa Meccanica for a checkup

congrats, enjoy!

That was a killer deal... if I wasn’t so afraid of euro bikes I’d have bought that bike while you were thinking. Congrats, and wish you some great adventures with her.

I was away working....did the deal first day back in Ontario
you could have stolen it!

bike was on kijiji for 2 months
not one person came to see it
being in Stittsville may have been a factor

but seller had nothing but low-ball internet BS offers
local market for >$10K used Italian bikes is not huge
being mid summer, time was actually on my side

edit: also considering your advice re: the Vulcan, MM
looking at it last night, I still like it, will probably keep it

Things work that way sometimes. For years I was looking for an sub $1000 XV920R (chain drive) for a cafe project -- I eventually gave up. A year later I stumbled across one on Kijiji, it had been listed for 3 mo in the bicycle section for $1000... WOOD! The model and price were about right for a parts bike so I called. The seller was desperate, he says to me "if you can pick it up today it's your for $300." OK, I jump in my truck and head across town.

When I get there I find the bike is original, complete, and unmolested. I got her home, threw on a set of tires and brakes and voila -- she passed safety. I couldn't bear to chop it up for a cafe project.

Are those side bags silver or white? I think they are Givi and maybe made for Aprilia if white. I have a matching top box (silver) that’s been awesome for me as it swallows a ton of stuff. Congrats, it’s a nice looking bike, that seat even looks half decent!

outer shell in aluminum, just looks white in the picture
yeah definitely made by Givi
same lock/latch mechanism as the V35's I've had on 2 bikes

first ride review, ~250 km from Capital region to home

bike is absolutely sublime in everything it does
ergos are spot on for me, OEM gel seat is actually pretty good
turned on the electronic goodies to middle of the road settings

Touring Map, mid level TC, electronic damping to auto
the controls are incredibly smooth with good feedback

hyd. clutch is beautifully easy and accurate
shifter is butter

fuel mapping is perfect, actually feels like a carburetor bike
screen is perfect, 120kmh with the visor open, no turbulence
first bike I've owned with proper CC - will take some getting used to

the auto suspension is fantastic
rear preload and front/rear damping constantly recalibrating

no spirited riding yet, until I get more comfortable with it
so can't comment on the brakes

motor in touring map has plenty of grunt everywhere
not ready for sport mode yet

and the Italian snort from the exhaust is nasty but nice

edit: no need for a new pic, the one in post #23 is it

Amazing! Sounds like the review I did on my first girlfriend (she was European) the night I took her home. Glad you like her.

alrighty then....30 day review

the electronic goodies and overall comfort continue to impress
but the mill on a 1200 cc sport/touring machine need to be the focus

it's a ripper of a motor....noisy, torque everywhere, dogs barking at it
the FJ09 was a great motor

this thing is outrageous....roll on and easily be 50 kmh over the limit in 2 seconds
but it sounds so ******* great, you have to do it

Nothing about the suspension and brake handling? :unsure:What's wrong with it!
maybe the massive luggage is holding it back ;)
