How do you feel about the decline of petrol vehicles?

What the everloving *&^%*&^ was GM thinking with that? A 54hp 220 lb turbine that required octane boosted gasoline or CNG? I think you could easily get that output in a similar package with a turbine that ran on almost anything. Chrysler turbine car made 130 hp in 1963 from a 410 lb package that...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Busses are a bigger problem than delivery trucks imo. Large fleet, more kwh per day per vehicle required (more km's, more starts), not much off time during operation (ignoring the economics/politics, delivery trucks at loading docks could get charged while loading/unloading). I saw the bank of...

More weight equals more traction to power through the windrow. I figured the motor would be a surplus industrial three-phase motor running through a 1 to 3 phase vfd so that costs you some power from the plate rating. I've got a 5hp single phase on the shelf for a different project but I'm not...

That doesn't seem like a great solution to anything.

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Apparently someone took a Model S Plaid from 0 to 172 mph in 17.1 seconds. That's impressive. No drama at all in video. Sure it will win a race but without the sound of a screaming ICE it brings me little happiness. That car also had the stupid danger bat wheel too...

Swap in a 10 to 20 hp electric motor and extension cord and plug it into your EV outlet. Lots of power, not much noise. Heavy bastard though.

That could be a great fit. Low speed, lots of start/stop is ideal for EV. Just need to overcome battery capacity/charging complications.

An unloaded engine is even more likely to sound like crap. They sound better when they are working.

My next snow removing thing will probably be a two stage. That bleeping windrow can put a real hurting on the single stages (especially if heavy/frozen and tall). Three neighbours have said I could borrow theirs but I don't want to be that guy. If it is horrible, I will borrow one and clear...

There are gym exceptions that some are using. The shady hole is mental health facility, the legal hole is related to physio (something along the lines of fitness to address a long or short term injury). Gym stays open, you get a doctors note that you need access to a facility and bob's your uncle.

I have still only had the QR code scanned once. If it was fake, odds are very good you could conduct life as you wanted with almost no repercussions.

I have white lights strung on a blue spruce. The tree is ~30 feet tall. The lights stay up. They were a huge pain to install, they are not going up and down. Normally run them in the evening when snow is out. Snow goes away, lights turn off for the season. If they were coloured, I would whack...

How do you feel about the decline of petrol vehicles?

If we are talking about four wheel vehicles, the vast majority sound like crap anyway. Silence is better than a farty car. Similar argument applies for many bikes but a far lower percentage. Also, for those off-road, if you are quiet, the cop around the corner may not hear you coming and won't...

Yes. Two stage snow blowers can throw snow much further. They also feed more snow into the 2nd stage which helps to compress it into a tighter stream with less blowback. A single stage with light snow that isnt deep basically throws it into the air to fall again.

They can't reasonably do that until they start to have lots of empty appointments. If you try to book today, you are still weeks out from a shot in most health units. Just to be clear, I'm not advocating for moving the goal posts but if they do it, I don't think it can be for at least a month...

Many of the snowbunnies have switched to boards. No baggy pants for most of them. As for the music, I laugh my ass off at the few with backpacks containing a bluetooth speaker. They need to spin the backpack around to the friend every time they get on a lift and I sure as hell would not want to...

For a while this year, the 10 to 14 year old crowd thought it was hilarious to scream penis at the top of their lungs every few seconds while on the lift. When one of their compatriots heard it, they would return the call. Thankfully that only lasted a few weeks. Not sure who shut it down but...

I beg to differ. Teenage pricks are teenage pricks. The ones on skis are running Line twintips. Same attitude, different sliding sticks.

Drop the skis off and I will get them ready for you. I started the kids on skis. There are a few tiny kids (<5) on boards. My logic was skiing is both easier and crashes don't really hurt. It is easy to crash hard enough on a board that you temporarily question your desire to live (catching a...
