Anyone buy a bike from Calgary ??

Look at the $ value. Is it really worth it? It's a bike. Why the headache? If you were talking about a $60K car, there may be something to save, but a bike?

Do you fit the stereotype for your bike?

This is what I read; Blah blah blah....grumble grumble.......blah blah blah....grumble grumble........blah blah blah....grumble grumble A motorcycle enthusiast? I think not. His name says it all.

Do you fit the stereotype for your bike?

I rode the Finger Lakes about 10 years ago and checked into a hotel and I'm at the desk when a woman walks up to me and says 'I see you ride a Tupperware bike". I had no idea what she meant and asked her to explain, "your bike is all plastic, it's not a real bike with chrome". I could have...

    Will it ever stop snowing?!

Will you say that 10 years from now? You are in what I call the "honeymoon" phase. We all know what that's like, we want to ride no matter what. Once she's broke in, it will be like...."aw...it's friken cold out, I think I'll wait for it to warm up next week."

70-Year-Old Guy Out-Rides Me In His Trike (Can Am)

I test rode a CanAm Spyder a few years ago and going around corners or taking ramps at speed was a bit unsettling, like being on a motorcycle that was mysteriously magnetically held down, almost as though you are sitting on a couch, remaining flat and taking a corner...no lean. I think that...

    Will it ever stop snowing?!

Agree it was a relatively moderate winter, not too much shovelling, but it was way too long. I go for the winter of my youth, it was shorter and much colder, it snowed tonnes around Christmas time, and temperatures were lower on average (Toronto parks used to set up hockey boards and flood it...

    Will it ever stop snowing?!

I'm sitting in my living room right now watching huge nice fluffy white flakes falling on Richmond Hill, almost wishing it were nuclear fallout. This winter it started snowing November 1, 2019 and now we are passed Easter and it's still snowing. This has been the longest drawn-out winter on...

Some actual science on a touchy subject....darksiding

My doctor used to say, 'we are the guinea pigs for the next generation'. Meaning that by treating our aliments with currently approved medicine now, may be discovered to be totally unsafe in the next generation, so a few of us will die to learn that lesson. And so it goes with motorcycle...

If you could have one bike...

Ya, you really need to keep an open mind cause things are changing much faster than I ever thought. Even my mechanic says he's not worried and he will have lots of work on gas engines for the next 30 years. But who knows? Bloomberg says "peak oil" is supposed to hit in 2023/2024 and between 2025...

If you could have one bike...

No. No one is that stupid for bragging rights at the expense of shareholders' profit. They started 9 years ago when Tesla was just a dream experiment from an eccentric billionaire that most people, including Hyundai, thought would be dead within a few years. And so as each year passed, Hyundai...

If you could have one bike...

The Test Mule is the 2020 Sonata. It took 9 years and a couple billion to get this far at the dawn of an era about to be radicalized and simplified by electric motors. This new engine is going in the opposite direction and has a lot more moving parts in order to extract that tiny bit of extra...

Planing a trip with my son for this coming summer

So I guess what you are saying is that the bill stalled and so was never passed, but a police officer can ticket you by citing a law (unsafe operation of a vehicle?) if he observes that the passenger's feet are not safely supported by the footrests?

Planing a trip with my son for this coming summer

If I'm not mistaken, around the time Ontario passed the stunting laws a few years ago, didn't Ontario also pass a law that says you can not have a passenger younger than 12 years old? Something about the ability to comfortably and safely reach the footpegs for support.

    Dealer Cost

Many many years ago I used to audit Ensign Motors in Mister-and- Mississauga and I think is typical of auto/bike dealers yesterday and today. New sales made about 10% of the profit, parts made about 35% of the profit and service 55%. I have had discounts of 25% on high-end vehicles and as little...

    New dealer in Aurora ?

I once test rode a GS1200 at Open Road BMW (selling cars and bikes) in Newmarket and about 5 years ago they changed owners and name to Sherpa BMW. About a year after that they announced they abandoned their BMW bike franchise and were sticking to cars and trucks (ie. SUVs) only. They are now...

If you could have one bike...

Had a mint restored 66 Honda Z50 MiniTrail I bought for my son back in 1990s, complete with both keys and sold when he outgrew it for $450 after about 5 years ownership. Just learned from a UK Youtube video that that era of mini-bike can go for as much as 12,000 UK pounds in mint condition. Doh!

how do you park your bike?

All this talk about mounting and dismounting has me confused. Are we still talking about bikes, or what?

Motorcycle Life Expectancy ... guess which brand wins over 25 yr trend?

I'd say the bulk of Harleys are bought mainly for posing to people that is important for. Many are ridden for pure pleasure on weekends so rack up fewer kilometres. Other brands are more utilitarian and used for commuting and pleasure and so will more likely have higher use and therefore shorter...
