    Coronavirus

My wifes grandmother was at a really nice place in barrie for a few years until she ran out of money. It's hard to save enough to pay over 70K a year.

    Coronavirus

OK, that makes more sense. Once you exceed the capacity of a local health care system, the mortality spikes in that region as some people just get put out to pasture that could have been medically saved if sufficient resources were available.

    Coronavirus

That seems really high. Overall mortality rates have been hovering around 2% (or maybe less as very few locations have tested enough asymptomatic people to know how many positives exist in that population). I can't see overall mortality jumping to 7%. EDIT: 1.2 million out of 328 million is...

So that was a high service retirement home or a nursing home?

I agree. I was surprised that the largest "for-profit" owner was actually a crown corporation. Seems like a very messy arrangement.

    Tow Truck Turf War

I understand that point, but if you know how they are earning their money and did nothing to stop it, I have no problem with you losing your assets as proceeds of crime. I am sure they will be crying on the court steps about being homeless and the courts took away their house. You cant have it...

    Coronavirus

Long-term care report from the military. It is ugly (as expected). Most of the findings are not even slightly surprising for people with exposure to LTC homes. People wandering the halls even after diagnosis. It is very difficult to restrain patients. You need to specifically request for each...

    Tow Truck Turf War

Some real scumbags there. The insurance companies knew about the scam and hired a law firm to try to disrupt it and the dirtbags went after the law firm. I hope the government has enough stones to seize everything they own as proceeds of crime. It's very unlikely that all of the families are...

Porter extended shutdown to July 29. https://www.cp24.com/news/porter-airlines-extends-service-suspension-due-to-covid-19-travel-restrictions-1.4955043 "Porter Airlines is deferring its resumption of flights until July 29, one month later than previously scheduled, due to ongoing COVID-19...

    Weird tool

Those aren't vises. Those are work holders (where your work is a circuit board or similar). As a minimum, a 4" vise at ~20 lbs is a vise. Bigger is better.

WTF is going on with Motorcycle deaths?

Ear plugs work because they lower all sounds before they get to your inner ear. Simplified, instead of 100 dB at the outside of the ear canal, now you have ~75. Your ear is quite happy processing at the new level. If you now insert music at 85 dB on the quiet side it is ~10 dB above things...

Dundas Loop - 1hr start&stop at Main St S and Dundas St E

I don't get it? Why would you skip the good windy roads (sulphur springs, mineral springs etc) to take straight roads?

WTF is going on with Motorcycle deaths?

I always use earplugs too. External speakers aren't so bad (helmet speakers, bike speakers etc), where it really gets dodgy is IEM's. Now you isolate from outside noises and pump music into the quiet side to ensure you have very little chance of hearing what is going on around you.

anyone used these tire plugs before

For some people, that's whats wrong. There is no wank factor to some stinky rubber strips and a made in china plastic handle.

WTF is going on with Motorcycle deaths?

A lot of riders do that too. I value hearing what is around me on a bike, but many like to crank the tunes and zone out.

    Weird tool

What size vices are you looking at? I haven't seen a bench vice with suction. If you did happen to go this route, it is very important that the vice is rigid on the surface. Hitting something on a wobbly vice would be an exercise in frustration. The vice on a board that then gets clamped is a...

Reliable bike for my kid returning to riding after illness

Can't help you with your quest for wheels but I can send you and your son my best wishes getting through this. One of my high school friends suffered from headaches (and other symptoms) for years and had a crap family doctor. It culminated in an emergency run to a distant hospital and a 12" scar...

    Weird tool

How big a vice are you looking at? The utility of a vice increases substantially when it is attached to something solid. That being said, I currently have a spare vice I picked up an estate sale that is ~50 lbs that I just put on the floor of the garage when I need to use it. Between the...
