    Garage Lifts?

FWIW my single car garage can hold the family cage, the Goldwing, a canoe, ladders, a tool roll about, welder, M/C gear, car and bike necessities and more. There is no loft as the bedroom is above. Most garages fail to use the upper half for storage. Looking up and making fancy custom brackets...

Since we're on a keep the house dry topic another pet peeve is the misuse of good products, namely foundation water proofing, the chocolate coloured dimpled sheet stuff. I see renovations where it is being used on the inside as part of a french drain system. I am aware of two brands. When I...

    Roofing price

The bird beaks and ice fences have to be anchored to the structural members. Sheet metal screws will pull out. Sheet metal screws have to be caulked and caulking fails creating leaks. Isn't life wonderful. The shingles on my garden shed are over 25 years old and there are no leaks. The moss may...

    Roofing price

If the builder is going that cheap they will likely go cheap on the roof deck and it will sag between rafters. That means that the rain will run down in the gullies between the rafters and prematurely erode the shingles. The shingle manufacturer will say that voids the warranty.

"We do our best to ensure......" Who pays for the oopsie is their best wasn't good enough. Who pays the lifetime expenses for the crippled worker that fell off the roof? I had new eaves troughs installed and yup the upper level dumped on the lower level. Fixed it myself. A paralegal I know...

    Roofing price

Ours is 16 years old and not showing wear. It could make the 20 but the neighbour wasn't so lucky. Apparently HD doesn't do roofs anymore and there's a class action lawsuit. I did my own the last time around and it lasted 21 without leaking but was curling etc. He didn't have much choice as...

    Roofing price

Ours is good for a bit yet but a neighbour is paying $12,000 for his on a 1200 SF bungalow, modest slope. Ours was a third of that thirteen years ago so a bit of sticker shock. The neighbour had his roof done by Home Depot a year later and it has failed. Apparently he isn't the only one. Is...

    The urban hazards are real

Too funny except for the rider. I had a shop in an industrial mall in Brampton and kept the bike there. There was a body rub place on the other side of the mall. One day after doing a few adjustments to the bike I went for a ride around the back of the place to make sure the tuning was OK. When...

Motorcycle Purchase Without License or Insurance

I'm paranoid about other people holding onto stuff I've paid for. If the dealership goes under your deposit and the ownership of the bike becomes part of their assets and you'll be way down on the list of people to be paid. If you have a place to store it take it home with a safety and no...

Does anyone here know about fleet security?

This site is about the motorcycle niche of vehicles. Opinions will vary from helpful to insulting. If you want facts talk to an insurance broker. The original post is too vague for legit replies. Do you own the vehicles you use? How many?

    Boeing 737 Max 8

My dinosaur brain keeps thinking about things being intrinsically stable. Boats that float right side up, cars that tend to go straight and airplanes with dihedral that keeps them from doing unplanned aerobatics. Basically planes capable of flying without a computer if needed.

    Boeing 737 Max 8

I assume Boeing is sectioned so that if the 737 division folds the military part keeps on bombing along. If the Max 8 is scrapped how long before a properly designed aircraft will start carrying passengers? Have sketches already been drawn up for months?

    Ebike require motorcycle licensing?

He finds a lonely single who is desperate enough to put his car in her name. He drives it with no license. Dumps her when caught and finds another lonely heart. Honest people wouldn't think of doing it. Honest people often get suckered.

    Ebike require motorcycle licensing?

Alcoholics and drunks have different problems with the substance and need to be treated differently. However when their car is parked on my chest I don't really give a damn about what course of correction they need. I am a socialist at heart but get discouraged when I see repeated abuses of...

    Need a snowblower....recommendations?

That's not a driveway. It's a parking lot. My daughter isn't too far away (Gage Park) with a 80 foot driveway between two houses. A two stage is needed to hurl the white stuff far enough ahead so it can shifted to the front or back yard. One also has to consider the weight of the snow. A 5HP...

    Need a snowblower....recommendations?

One of the OP's problems is that he has a petite wife and she can't handle the size of snow blower that he needs. Snow blowers tend to have heavy, torque laden engines that weigh a ton. Could a lighter machine be made with a Hayabusa motor? OK not a Hayabusa but a lighter 5-10 HP machine with...

    Need a snowblower....recommendations?

The really big ones are done with heated glycol through natural gas heaters. Except for the Wynne era ton of electric snow melting at the Burlington GO parking lot. The glycol system avoids the necessity of a nuclear generating station at the bottom of the driveway.
