I installed the creepy surveillance app/device to get an insurance discount

My parents did the OBDII plug for a period of time a few years and haven't needed to repeat so it looks like the discount is permanent (I don't think it was Desjardins though). One car, two drivers. They got 15% IIRC. Based on how, where and when they drive, the 25% is probably impossible to...

I installed the creepy surveillance app/device to get an insurance discount

Not for me. I don't have nearly enough power to drift in the summer, in the winter however ;) It would be interesting to see what adjusto thought you were doing and whether it was worth a penalty. Theoretically it could use GPS and gyros to determine your orientation.

Car help! Smells like Rotten Eggs

It's hard to do in practice now that modern camry hybrids have power not dissimilar to the (now vintage) ferraris doing hot laps on a track in that reference.

Stupidly overpriced motorcycle for sale thread

I think that is extended warranty for three years. I have little faith in a warranty that was purchased on an eight year old bike. I suspect the dealership saw him coming and padded his bill with thousands of useless value added items.

It would be the perfect setup except as far as I know, there is no way to legally ride it on public property. In the eyes of the law, it is an unlicensed, uninsured motorcycle and you probably catch a ticket for not wearing an approved motorcycle helmet as well. Not sure why ebike get a free...

    Kijiji people are evil

Tell him to donate $50 to the hospital. Send you the receipt and you will schedule a time to meet him. You'll eat the $50 if he buys it. If it isnt worth a $50 donation, he probably isnt that likely to purchase it anyway.

    Garage Lifts?

I really like the sonotube idea assuming the sails are very dry when they go in (which I hope they would be?). As purchased, they don't tolerate water over time very well. You could probably seal them with leftover paint/varnish/poly that you have in your current garage to kill two birds with...

    Garage Lifts?

I would be inclined to build a fixed platform ~6.5' off the ground. Basically a deck on 4 posts (ledger boards would be even better if that works). Nice and simple, easy to access. Put a ladder up one side if you want to get up to crawl around. I pinned the lift at a height where I can walk...

    Garage Lifts?

Why such a heavy floor? How heavy are your individual sails (eg is it practical to slide them up into a loft or you need the lift to come down to facilitate loading)? Who on GTAM has the cobra rep? They have a nice looking 4 post lift that will take the weight easily. I built a loft over the...

    Need a snowblower....recommendations?

They had the same guy the year before. They wanted to give him another chance. If contracts were November to november they should have had service. I think the guy is probably servicing december to march but left that useful information out of the contract. I guess you could use him in small...

    Need a snowblower....recommendations?

Well, that depends on the level of service. If they are just getting established, they will be awesome, once most plowing companies have been around a while, their service list is so long that it's almost not worth paying. My elderly inlaws end up shovelling their sloped driveway most of the...

    Need a snowblower....recommendations?

The old honda had a workout this morning. 10" of snow overnight. No problems. Couldnt jog with it, there isnt enough hp for that but did two driveways (six car and eight car) and some paths in <30 minutes.

I'd pay good money to see someone ride that 50k and come back with a case of beer. Bonus money if they are able to stand up straight afterwards.

    Roofing price

Don't get me started on him. Bah. Turns every project into a $100K cluster *&^*&^ even if the original request was "please hang a new light over our dining room table". By the time he is done, he has dug up the road and installed a new 400A service and panel and rewired your house and while we...

    Roofing price

Haha. If I was going to be a shady roofer, the name on my truck magnet during installations would be an ontario company with wsib coverage. Cheques would be made out to a numbered company that I actually ran. The odds that someone figures out company a is not related to company b is low. You're...

Stupidly overpriced motorcycle for sale thread

Well he does say best offer. Maybe someone should offer him $50. Think of it as freeing someone from slavery. You don't really want it, you just don't want him to abuse it any more (although I am not sure that is possible).

Stupidly overpriced motorcycle for sale thread

I just threw up in my mouth a little. Poor bike. The kicker is the rear subframe not being remotely in line with the rear wheel. So not only is it hideous, it's also poorly constructed.
