Apologies if this has already been posted.

I just got back from a ride through the Forks of the Credit. I entered the road from Mississauga Rd.

The stretch from Mississauga Rd to McLaren Rd is a community safety zone. At Dominion St, there was a sign for "Municipal Speed Camera Coming Soon"

Okay, this has bugged me since I moved back from BC, but just to confirm, the bit of the Forks of the Credit that folks head to for riding is just the 3 odd km bit around the hairpin, right? Is there a bit I'm missing on the way to or from that makes it such a destination?

I went to Snake Rd when I moved back, and I think it was even more disappointing than the first Star Wars prequel with Jar-Jar Binks...

The Forks of the Credit is great for new riders to try out some twisties close to the city.
And on the weekend, a place to check other bikes and shoot the $hit.

I am fan of River Rd. but the time to get there is long and boring.

That depends on where you live. It's one of the few advantages of living in Orangeville, you are much closer to a great variety of nice bike roads. I rarely ride south to The Forks anymore because the 50 kph limit is a buzzkill and it's just too busy. I completely avoid riding through there in the fall because of all the city people gawking at the colours!

My personal favourite is CR9 from Maple Valley to Creemore, with a side loop up to Glen Huron via Concessions 8 and 9. I've usually ridden through Hockley Valley and River Road on the way up there. So many nice roads up this way.

When I got back into riding a couple of decades ago I kept hearing about Snake Road. When I rode it on my Sportster I wondered if I was on the wrong Snake Road.

FOTC is some nice scenery with one hairpin. Take out the hairpin and it's just nice scenery.

If you want to work the bars while practicing staying in your lane there's far better riding around Dundas valley, Hamilton cuts and Ancaster.

Ridge Road is nice if you take every option to go up or down the escarpment every chance you get.

None of the above equal the Dragon or even the Baby Dragon in Ohio.

Baby Dragon in Ohio.
Which road is that? We were riding south east Ohio this summer. There are some great roads. I'd forgotten just how good parts of the 555 are.

Again it's an old saw but the best motorcycle roads in Ontario are in Pennsylvania.

536 from Hannibal to Woodsfield. If you look at a map there seems to be a lot more.

The triple nickel wasn't IMO that great but suit yourself.

Eastern Ohio abuts Pennsylvania so shares a lot of terrain features. Western Ohio is the ugly sister.

Coshocton is interesting history and biker friendly.

I'm fond of Holmes County for the Amish culture and food. Lots of pleasant back roads.

Bring me back an apple fritter from the Amish Door bakery / restaurant in Wilmot.

headed there next weekend! (in the car)

When did you last ride it? Big chunks of it had just been paved this summer and it was quite good. It's a long road and some of it so-so but other portions were very good.
Tons more good stuff down in the SE corner.

Coastal mountains guy moves to the Canadian Shield. Complains that the roads aren't curvy... :ROFLMAO:

My friend who used to live in Toronto moved out to Calgary a while ago. Avid skier, loves the Rocky Mountains.

Whenever she visits family in Toronto in the wintertime, she leaves the skis at home. Family has a membership at Georgian Peaks. She sits in the chalet instead. Turned into a ski snob...

Coming from the Interior, all y'all roads suck in the GTA. You gotta ride pretty far away from the big shiity for some really good twisty roads. When I'm in the area, I ride out to the Forks mainly to see who's hanging out at the parking lot at Higher Ground. Gab motorcycles with other riders. Look at all the other bikes and cars go by. It's pretty much a social thing.

Hey, I've always maintained that the only thing I miss about BC is the motorcycling roads. Ontario has BC beat for everything else I care about, though... (oh, wait, I also miss ICBC, which I never thought I'd say!)

I wasn't trying to be snarky (at least not TOO snarky), I was genuinely wondering if I was missing anything considering the attention paid to that bit of road. I thought maybe it was a destination with other decent roads before or after, with the hairpin and the social visit as the highlight of a larger ride. When I was in Ontario many moons ago, I lived in east Toronto, so my destinations were around Peterborough, 507 etc. I think I ended up at the Forks once. By comparison, they 'ruined' the Sea-to-Sky with the Olympics rebuild, you have to be doing jail-time speeds now to get a decent lean on, but the trip up to the Squamish Starbucks, aka Chicken Strip Cafe, is worthwhile for the scenery at least.

All that said, I've actually been able to work out a few routes through Niagara that are okay, at least the roads are. The speed limits are tortuously low, though, and there's a lot of traffic in the summer, so careful timing is required for it not to end in tears. I'm not a huge fan of blasting past people's driveways, and the relentless development in Southern Ontario means most scenic and unfarmable spots (eg. where the curves are) have been developed. Good thing I traded the Aprilia for a Guzzi and don't care about corners anymore, right? Right!?

It was pre-Trump and pre covid. If you pick your routes the fun starts just south of Buffalo.

Don't be afraid of the New York State Thruway. It was stupid cheap compared to our 407 Expensive Toll Route
