This will be my puzzle/nightmare is exactly 4000km. Thankfully I was smart enough to buy a 2 valve.
Post up pics. I've never done a desmo valve service before, personally. Interested in seeing what the challenges are.
What is it that has hollow valves like that?You normally either have pushrods or put the cams in the head.
My old sohc is one example.

Nothing wrong with pushrods IMHO. They don't work for all engines, but for low revving high torque engines like many motorcycle v-twins, they can add reliability while reducing engine weight, height, complexity, and maintanence.
No idea which that cutaway is specifically. Sodium filled exhaust valves have been around for decades. Porsche uses them. Lots of others too. I have no idea about the hollow intake valve.

Many bikes used ohc and rockers. I have a few in the garage... Honda Goldwing, Suzuki SP, Yamaha XV920R... and my Honda gennie.

15 month and 3 month old powder coat on my Jeep bumpers failed. Started rusting underneath the powder coat mainly where it got stone chips. Had the local body shop sandblast, prime, and spray LineX premium on them. A little annoyed that I had to pay $550 to LineX over the powder coat I had paid $450 for, but what can you do.
Just got the rear bumper installed today - the front will have to wait until next weekend. Looks really good

Koenigsegg has freevalve camless engine in production. Bloody genius that guy is. I don't expect to see similar technology in anything I could ever afford as electric powertrain will take over before it trickles down.

The old air/oil cooled Suzuki 600s and 750s had twin cams operating four valves per cylinder via rockers. Adjustment was so simple.
The latest Honda 500cc parallel twins use rockers and are DOHC. The new watercooled Triumph twins have a single overhead cam, four valves per cylinder, and rockers. No doubt there are many more examples.
The wackiest set up is probably the Africa Twin: single cam, shims on the intake side, rockers on the exhaust.

Same as the SXV, but with shims under the rockers.

I'm adapting a map pouch from a tank bag to map pouch only. No tank bag. I've attached four plastic quick release buckles to use with existing tank bag straps. All it needs now is some foam on the back side to protect the tank from scratches.
The pouch is made of nylon, the same stuff used on various tank bags and other motorbike luggage. How best to attach the foam? Similar to carpet underpad, fairly dense. I want to use glue, but what's the best kind for this purpose? Any experts out there?

You'll need something extremely weatherproof, so maybe Gorilla Glue?
