The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced that certain 2020 Harley-Davidson LiveWire motorcycles are being recalled. An unexpected loss of propulsion without the ability to restart may increase the risk of a crash.

The potential number of units affected is 1,012. The electric vehicle powertrain may unexpectedly shut down and not restart, due to a software issue in the Onboard Charging (OBC) system.

Harley-Davidson will notify owners, and dealers will update the OBC software, free of charge.

There's a Harley breakdown joke in here somewhere...I just can't quite put my finger on it. ;)
Limewire?

Seen it happen with electric lawn mowers before, probably ran out of power cord.

Everybody here should price out insurance on one, that would be good for a laugh.

At least you guys won't have to worry about it, because you can't afford one anyway.

Guess you can’t either as I haven’t seen any reviews from you about it.

And trotting out that old busted song and dance again is getting old.

I'd love to have one, I can afford one, but it's a bit too niche for me. Same reason I don't drive a Tesla - I can't justify the greenie premium.

I wouldn't read too much into the recall, it's a new product and it's bound to need a bit of shaking out. My last 5 cars all needed a recall for something.

HD is in the throws of another rethink-reorg, or in their speak Rewire. They are no stranger to this process, they have done it a good number of times, they are moving to the next stage that includes a more focused product and marketing plan, reduced costs and measures to weather COVID. HD's been in business for 100+ years, they still have a dominant market share, a strong brand and lots cash and equity. Despite COVID, they have been able to conserve cash continue with their reorg.

Maybe they come out of this smaller, leaner and still in the same niche. If you're confident they are heading into the shitter, short a mittful of their shares. Well meet in another year to see how that works for you.

Good luck HD, I'm rooting for you. Price the PAN AM right and It might be my first HD next spring.

It's a new product that has been showcased for how many years now? :sneaky: they introduced it June 2014.

All joking aside I’m pretty much 100% on the same page on all points, honestly.

My CTSv had a recall on it's ignition key cylinder... they made the car for 17 years.

Recalls are actually to a manufacturers credit (assuming they were not forced to do them)
I had one that left the fix worse then the original. ymmv

Vehicle suddenly stranding you because of a software malfunction is not a very good one, it's not like a window crank fell off.

This is shocking news, another Harley DOA by the side of the road.

I heard HD is going to rename the bike either "DeadWire" or "WireLess"
