If you're not wearing out your tires before they "deteriorate".... You're not riding enough.

I think we're over thinking this storage dilemma. It's not like the bike is being time capsuled only to be brought out 40 years from now...
It's 5 months tops. Less if you own a heated vest.
 
or maybe you have too many motorcycles. You can't wear them all out at once, I tried.
 
Buy a track bike in the spring, by this time next year you will be selling your Superduke to fund your new obsession.
Street riding gets really old fast, and your storage woes won't be a problem anymore.

I think you are right, too much thinking.

Barn storage has 2 evils - critters (who have a taste for wiring, seat foam, air filters -- and enjoy overwintering in airboxes) and corrosion (in fuel system and on bright parts. Manage those risks and you should be fine.

I don't know that much about race tires but if they are that delicate, get a set of cheepie road wheels for storage, then keep you race wheels in the living room over the winter.

Storing the wheels separate from the bike isn't a bad idea for theft prevention. A bike with no wheels is a damned awkward lump to get out of the backyard.
 
Heated garage, job done (y) sit in there and clean them all year round.
When the whole world freezes over in December and January, I'll be rolling out on my studded tires and give that a go again. It was awesome fun last winter. other then the crash
 
It's disconcerting we're already having these discussions about winterizing/storing our bikes.
 
A good shed vs Garage, it would be interesting to see what the moisture difference is. Concrete floors hold a lot of moisture...especially if you're running a snow covered car in and out beside the bike.

Shed should be much colder on average which will keep humidity down which is good but I suspect will have larger and more frequent temp swings which is bad.
 
OP- What you describe is exactly how my honda was stored over the winter before I built my garage. Never had an issue.
