Opinions on best anti-theft items to put on bike for ppl without a private garage parking

Did I ever tell you about the time I parked my motorcycle too close to the Macaque cage?
Judy completely disassembled everything she could reach on the right side of my motorcycle :| little ****** made me late for school putting it back together.
... I made her help.

The Oxford Beast is one of the better moto lock and chain combos. Has an uncommon lock/key design so your typical lock picks won't work. Highly unlikely to be picked as a result. Design (size and material) makes it so it's ultimately easier to cut the chain than the lock.

Chain links are 22mm diameter. So it will take a while to cut through. A decent choice for if you want to leave the lock at the location to be locked and not practical to bring with you. Chain and lock together are ~35 lbs. The lock body alone making up ~1/4 the total weight. Beast is an apt name for the model.

I've definitely seen it in the past on both fortnine and gp bikes. If they don't currently have it in stock, I bet gp would be glad to order it for you. I've ordered Oxford product from gp bikes directly in the past because it was not on their website. Smooth and easy transaction.

gonna try gp and royal dist

thoughts on this one folks? is in stock and kryptonite. sold secure motorcycle gold. for some reason canadian pricing is very low $214. same lock chain combo goes for like $250usd in USA

It's also available from warehouse deals for 187 (probably a return).

fwiw: you could leave your keys right in the bike and I wouldn't take it, but sadly many people don't operate that way, so I think an old beat up minivan with blocked out windows, 4 flat tires, no license plate and a decent loading ramp would be a perfect storage unit for a subterranean parking lot. Just don't let too many people know you store it in there. A lock will only stop the honest people from taking your stuff and you are entertaining open storage of a nice motorcycle in the most evil place possible.

Your van would get an angry letter from the condo in seconds. Vehicles need to be licensed and in good repair. They need to make sure they have the best stock for the thieves you know. When was the last time you saw a junker parked out front at a dealership?

and That's why I moved to the country ? they just leave old trucks set anywhere around here and if anything bothers it you just shoot it.

This is my parking situation.
Got my previous bike stolen in a very same condo parking garage so we decided to drill an “anchor” into the ground and use two kryptonite chains for our bikes.

I’m lucky I have a wider spot next to a pole so we can fit two bikes + back up a car into same spot.
Taking off chains and sometimes moving a car to get a bikes out can be annoying but it is what it is.

When I lived in a condo, I got an angry letter for leaving my bike cover folded up behind a column when I would go for a ride. When I incredulously inquired what on earth they wanted me to do with it, I was told I should take the cover back up 16 floors and leave it in my unit, then go back and retrieve it on my return. The worst bit about this was the condo only had two elevators for over 30 floors, and one was almost always on service during the weekends for moves, so it often took more than 20 minutes just to go up and back down. (It wasn't even a full size cover, just one of those Cycle Shade covers that was good for keeping dust off the seat and tank.)

Needless to say, our next purchase was a house...

You currently have an accommodating board. The vast majority will not allow two vehicles in one spot and they sure as hell won't allow installation of an anchor.

I never lived in a Condo (in Canada at least) until last Winter but I don’t understand why someone would be bothered if I can fit more then one vehicle in the spot that I own as long as it’s within the parking space.
There is no designated motorcycle parking and also there is a huge shortage of parking spots considering the number of units in the building.

It’s a new build and they pretty much told me do whatever you want to keep your vehicles safe as we don’t have cameras or security on site. (They were informed about what happened to my first bike too).

Because condo boards are one step below HOA boards. They tend to attract a population of Karen's that have nothing better to do than make and enforce petty rules. That is not every member on every board, but over time, they seem to head that way.

At my parents old place in Florida, the list of HOA rules was crazy. You had to paint your mailbox poo brown (and they gave the paint code for Home Depot to make sure you got the right colour of diarrhea), there were rules for the size and colours of plaque with your name (poo brown with yellow letters), you had to water your lawn x times a week with x inches per time (and they would check with cups), etc. Frig me. Does it look ok or does it look like crap?

I get the concept (you don't want derelict vehicles left everywhere) but if your spot accommodates two vehicles that you regularly use without infringing on others, I would be annoyed if they told me that was no bueno. They don't like you installing anchors as there can be utilities in the slab or you don't properly prep the hole and the rebar rusts and cracks the concrete etc. A wall anchor fixes the second issue but not the first. Again, they are setup for the masses, if you want to do something that does not improve the lives of the majority, they normally just tell you no.
