Those have been around a long time. I don't like him but don't see a better option right now. Actually, are there even going to be any drama teaching jobs next year? Tele-drama teaching is a little rough.

Bring back Stephen Harper. The country felt whole for the first time ever.

The guy formerly known as Mladin.

He ****** over the sector I work in...Science took a beach seat to
politics during his tenure.
But the west felt represented. They felt part of Canada again. The talk of separation stopped. The dollar soared...I was buying up motorcycle gear like crazy from the US enjoying our $1.15 dollar. It's always a good idea to have an economist as your leader.

Stephen Harper was the best Prime Minister we've ever had.

Except we dropped massively in terms of innovation in the world's eyes. Pure science was curtailed (which leads to the big blue sky ideas that drive innovation). Great if all you want is a service industry country that also sells oil and lumber but we should be striving for much more than that. Harper set us back years in that regard. We are still playing catch up.

I‘ll agree with you that he had the support of the west...but what was the cost? I also really enjoyed the exchange rate...but the real story of what was going on is much more complex than that.

I'd prefer to make him a trust fund baby again,
but that cat got out of the bag during his second term.
He's now a potential pensioner as well, with that hefty fully indexed P.M. pension.

I don't understand people who fall for the whole, we're crap but the other party is worse, routine.
If we haven't tried it, how would we know, and should I trust their direct competitor to fairly rate them?
Seems foolish to me.

No one leader can satisfy everyone.

Stephen Harper was a quiet, confident leader...didn't do a lot of media. Didn't have a big office. Has a huge IQ. And an economist to boot. What more can you ask for?

I think the dollar was $1.35 to the US greenback. I was having my way with Revzilla and loving it.

Every time the country gets in the hands of the east, it goes downhill.

Look at the country now.

CAD dollar didn't soar, so much as the USD dollar (the standard by which we're all measured) fell during that time. We weren't doing anything particularly special, except perhaps leveraging new trade deals with China at the time. Not experiencing a housing crisis saved us during that time, it wasn't Harper.

Also, I don't dislike Harper; I like that he wasn't a narcissist. IMO government should do little more than create/manage legislation and direct tax dollars appropriately, and he did that for the most part. He did, perhaps, too much cutting of essential services at the federal level.
