Rogers are truly a scummy company

I'm sure Rogers is a super scummy company, I have zero doubts about that. My personal experience, they've been just fine.

I get gigabit internet for ~$70/month. Speed is consistent and fast, maybe goes down a few times a year for no more than 30 minutes. I send them a message on Facebook once a year to reup my discount. Zero fuss
Ya same here. Seems some people here are either itching for a fight, or just have some bad luck.
Ive had Rogers pro rate my lower rates for a few months where they ****** up. Never an issue. As for not dealing with the level 1....I’ve never had to go above that level. I just treat them like human beings.

service has never been my issue with Rogers.

i find that after 15-30 minutes on the phone with them i always ended up needing to be transferred because they dont have the authority to do much of anything. so i just skip that part now.

Makes sense. Don’t get me wrong I’m all for an argument if I’m being dicked around. But never really had to. I just don’t want to see an increase in my monthly fees and have never had an issue after some discussion with a Level 1.

I actually never had had any service from Rogers. But have heard of horror stories.

I had Bell for phone but canceled land line 5 years ago.

I have been with Telus for Cell service since I have had a cell phone 20 years ago.
There were a few pissing matches over the years but for the most part they have been decent. Offered me some sweet deals on plans at times where they tried to backtrack but it was recorded on my file so it stayed.

Had TekSavvy for internet for almost 10 years and no real complaints. Only switched because Virgin offered a better rate.

The people at the call centre are only doing their job, following the rules. I would guess that they do agree with the caller, especially if the service provider messed up BUT they have a certain set of rules that they need to follow.

Don't get me wrong, I have lost it on a few of the tier 1s or 2s myself. But we need to remember that these techs/reps are not the ones that make the rules. Fair or unfair. They get paid to follow them.
The rules are made by people that we will probably never speak to.

For my own services I've tried to streamline everything.

I just have a cell phone with unlimited data for all my communications internet and entertainment, and add my wife's phone as a second line. I'm living in the US at the moment so its considerably cheaper than Rogers and Bell and even on 4G it will burst to 70-80Mbps down.

I have a loaded Skystream box that's plugged into the TV. Its quite old but It still works fine. I get most Canadian channels and can still be disappointed by the Leafs as it carries NHL Center Ice. I subscribe to Netflix and Amazon Prime, but to be honest, the Amazon Prime thing is more about shipping goods.

That's really more than I need

I did subscribe to Disney+ during the free trial but its not for me. If you had young kids, I would think it would be a great service though

Being a front line (junior) customer service agent for any telecommunication company must be the worst job ever! Probably doesn't pay that well either. Just imagine waking at 6:00 AM every work day thinking; another day of people ripping me a new one ..... Yay!

Still a better job than PSW. At least you are only being plastered in metaphorical feces over the phone.

I imagine they are paid better.

Virgin is Bell in disguise, they own Virgin. ?‍♂️ At least you dodged the red devil, but traded it for the blue one.

Everytime I have an issue with fido or rogers i NEVER take it up with the low level reps. I demand the manager. If i get the slightest tone from the manager that its not going in the right direction i demand and request the office of the president calls me. At this point their tone will either change in your favor or chances r high office of the president will resolve in ure favor. Just remember to repeat one thing “i’m going to take ure scamming company to small claims court, CRTC and media”. Helps a ******** to log down each person’s name u speak with, date, and time. When u get the manager or office of the president repeat to them on this day and this time i spoke with so and so from x-department... theh know u mean business right away.

Another sure way tothe attention of and a call from their office of the president is file a complaint on BBB, note names, dates, times, etc and demand their office calls u or u r suing them court. Never failed. Their objective is to remove that blemish from bbb
what?
really you must be joking.

I've tried to stick with the little guys (Primus for phone and Teksavvy for internet) for many years, but when we needed more bandwidth a few years ago Teksavvy just wasn't price competitive at the time. Switched to Rogers and had them for a few years with few problems thankfully.

Held my nose and switched to Bell (after not having a single service with them for almost 20 years after a bad experience long ago) for our internet a I wanted the synchronous gigabit true fibre that they installed on our street last summer. The $79/month for 12 months promo ran out a few months ago (now back to the regular $139/month price) and I've been dreading calling in to talk to retentions and get it dropped again since I know Bell's CS is typically a gong show as well.

They all suck. Except Teksavvy, they're cool. And Freedom Mobile has been pretty decent as well in the past when I've had to call in....been with them for about 6 years now for my wife and 2 years for me (ditched Fido after 16 years dating back to the Microcell days) and am also happy.

There have been a few instances where we had issues with the phone lines in our house causing internet issues, or modems failing on us after we switched to cable internet and Teksavvy has been a pleasure to deal with. Sometimes issues took a while to get fixed, but through no fault of their own and they were always super responsive when we called in.

+1 for Teksavvy

in 4 years i've had one day with packet loss and when i called in they were practically falling over themselves to help. Got it fixed in 2 hours and gave me 25% off for the month.

Zero issues recommending them.

And they constantly spent money fighting the cartel at the CRTC. I am sure I could save a few bucks a month with Acanac or similar, but I am happy to pay whatever Teksavvy asks for. It is a reasonable price and they are good people.

Over the years they have lowered my rate many times without asking and only increased a few times (like the recent bump where CRTC enforced cartels inflated wholesale rate).

I don't have the patience to call Bell every six or twelve months to beg for the promotional rate back.

We have our internet with Start Communications $70/month for unlimited with really high speeds and have had zero issues. Haven't paid for cable ever, we just use the internet. My cell phone is $21/month for unlimited call and text and 1GB of data with Public Mobile. Pretty much everywhere has wifi, so I find I rarely use data. I used to be with Virgin but they kept upping my plan without upping my features, was $30/ish for 150 minutes and text, no data, so happy to be with Public Mobile now. They use the Telus network so it has better coverage than Freedom, which doesn't exist out where I am.

Yup.
They sent a Bell technician to plug in my modem for me.

Same idea with TekSavvy.

I wish Teksavvy had access to Bell’s fibre optic services to resell - I’d switch back in a heartbeat.

But I’ve really grown to love the synchronous gigabit that fibre can offer, and right now, Bell has a lock on that. Uploading massive files is just blazing, not to mention downloading of course.

We are a heavy bandwidth household and DSL is painfully slow in comparison and Cable can’t offer the synchronous speeds - uploads are a fraction of what I enjoy with FTTH.

Been with Rogers for cell for 17 years. I've had problems. Always solved to my satisfaction. Last call in was several months ago. Explained everything to a first level. Transferred to second level and as soon as she came on the line said I see the problem. It's been resolved. We're giving you a 25% discount for the next 12 months.
