An old guy in Guelph is going to sue a Longos grocery store because they won't let him in without a mask. Lol.

Unless he's a minority, identifies under the LGBT spectrum, and is a follower of a religion that forbids face coverings, he's SOL.

Nah, he just has to get beat up.

I went into a Longos yesterday and yeah mask needed. They were selling them at the entrance for $1.00 with proceeds to charity. Free shot of sanitizer as well. If you can afford to shop at Longos you can afford a dollar for a mask.

If there was justice in the world he would sue and lose, getting Longos legal bill as well as his own, all for $1.00.

I would say, you obviously aren't responsible for what other people do. But look, if there's 10k people in the park and you`re still hanging out the responsibility becomes somewhat shared. You`re an adult, use the thing between your ears and decide that maybe this isn't the safest place to be for your family.

So yeah, if you`re still there and five-oh rolls up and starts telling you to leave or you catch a fine, i'm good with it.

The injustice part is that the person that got there first has to leave because the late comer doesn't give a damn about rules or common sense. In the USA one can stand ones ground with a Glock but not here.

If there was only one idiot the masses would go against the intruder but there seemed to be a lot of losers. Short of a rabid pit bull staked out on a 12 foot chain you're screwed. Move on and let them die. Pick your battles.

It's TB, chalk off a peace circle to protect your space.

Quote from saunders:
"When you don't see the threat, you are less likely to understand the impact you are having. If it were scorpions, they'd be nobody here at the park," he said. "I'm just hoping that people understand this is about saving lives."
I like the scorpions idea. The world needs less dumb.

"Brad Ross, a spokesperson with the City of Toronto, said officers will try to focus more on education than dolling out tickets."

As far as education vs tickets. F that. If you aren't educated by this point, you need a four figure stick to help teach you.

It's unlikely Covid will take out 10% of the population, the number the Romans used for decimation. A high enough body count that everyone will know a victim. Until it hits you or really close it's someone else's problem. Yes I understand you have a problem. No I don't have to pay for it.

BTW Snowflake, if you're living at home in your parent's heavily mortgaged condo and they die in a real estate downmarket your inheritance could be zip and you have to find your own B&B.

Originally, I'd heard a 7% death rate predicted. History is a little kinder. Death rate is around flu levels, if you're under 60.

It was said that in the States, the average age of those who died is above the life expectancy age.

Keeping my head fairly low here, since I'm 60, but we went out to Rona for some deck stain yesterday.
Kid's are working fairly regularly at the nearby grocery store, so that seems a more likely transmission point.

Impossible!
Snowflake is now under the protection of Safespace..

Seeing many memes from down south about the inbred Republicans defying the stay at home orders and protesting the lockdown.

But after seeing the mortality rates in Democrat vs Republican States, I wonder if it's similar to what we had in Toronto?

It's possible that Republicans are suppressing their death numbers, but it's just as possible that Democrats are inflating theirs.

Such a fun political time.

Holy ****, apparently 10000 people were there...this could be a catalyst that makes things much worse...also:

"Police Chief Mark Saunders said police received many complaints from residents in the neighbourhood who reported people in the park urinating and defecating in their laneways and backyards."

"When you've got an elderly woman opening the door and seeing someone defecating, it is quite bothersome," Saunders told reporters on Sunday. "So we issued a number of tickets for that type of public disorder."

?
Would have been a good time to test the park’s irrigation system.

better still, roll in a few dozen Covid patients on gurneys for some fresh air therapy in the park.

I doubt there will be any revenue. On the backside of this the court system will be a complete cluster with a huge backlog of important cases. My suspicion is the overwhelming majority of these covid tickets will just be wiped out in one shot. Unless you were a huge ass and tried to make a mockery of the system, I doubt they will bother taking any to trial.

Math: Trinity Belwood Park is 38 acres, or 1,655,280 square feet. That means 165 square feet per person or a square just under 13 feet by 13 feet for a crowd of 10,000. Distancing was not impossible so unless there were tape measures out, yeah the whole thing would get dumped. Chicken manure works better.

There are several your age and older on the site. While the infection rate is spread over all ages the death rate is far higher as we age.

The median age of COVID-19 cases is around 52, according to the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC).

But those dying of the disease are predominantly older Canadians. The median age of people killed by COVID-19 is around 84.

Averages and median counts complicate the numbers but it's obvious that being old isn't good.

I can see self centred young people say F the old people because they had the good times, job security and affordable houses. They see over 50 as old and disposable.

Being well past 50 I have to agree I've had it good but when we allow old people to die it's only another step to making them die. The Bible gives us three score and twelve years (72) so if all those older than that are bumped off and it doesn't cure the problem does the number drop to 65? Then 55 or ?????

It's easy to say let the oldies drop off so I can get their job but who paid for your education? Thanks.

Anyone here booked flight tickets?
Here is a risk-assesment on the probability of getting the COVID-19 virus.

Looks like all those socially conscious people didn't read your post before hand. Maybe the city should have chalked out 10,000 13' radius circles?

Trinity scene is exactly why I will never live in Toronto again. Or any major city in a density environment.

Old guy in Guelph ? Getting old doesn't mean you get smart, any judge that would allow this suit to go forward ? oy vey

I grew up in what is now referred to as Roncesvalle Village. Back then before it was quaint it was just Roncies with a lot of blue collar Polish, Ukrainian and some Germans. The delis seemed to compete with each other to see who could make the best kolbasa. The other stores sold goods not attitude. Today it's a Starbucks wannabee.

Great times but like I said before not a good place to hunker down anymore.
