Campgrounds open

You cant kick the campgrounds too hard for not being ready, provincial gov't drops a couple hints then it's "ok , we are open Saturday at 12:01 am!!" , and the announcemnet comes out Thursday noon. And a day after the announcement comes the rules and guidelines for protocols.

It's hard to keep up, rehire seasonal workers, the ones that will show up, get nessesary barriers and PPE and supplies on hand because you really dont know what will be required until the guidelines come out which is about a day behind the reopening announcements.

So true.
This applies to so many services that have to reopen. The amount of work to get things reopened, while already behind and shortstaffed is considerable, yet the customer wants it yesterday. And this doesn't even take into account all the other related things that may be closed or shortstaffed that your operation relies on to get opened as fast as possible.

crown land camping was closed
is it open now?

No. Unfortunately.

I suspect we'll hear more about provincial parks and crown land camping this coming week. They almost assuredly just wanted to get past the long weekend and the inevitable crushes that would have came with it (May 24'th weekend has always been a gong show) before reopening camping. The next weekend of insanity is Canada Day weekend - if the numbers spike in the coming weeks then I suspect the campgrounds might be shuttered again by the time the Canada Day weekend rolls around to dodge that bullet as well.

2-4 weather always sucks, so I prefer to take it as a relaxing long weekend, and take care of some spring house work in the rare sunny breaks.

89% of Canada is crown land, or do you mean is backcountry camping open?
... everything I have seen says day use only so far.

Crown land camping is still closed. The *only* legal camping in the province right now is at private campgrounds that have reopened as of Saturday.

Only camping I have for friends and family and I don't charge for that so it's super easy.
Sometimes they even bring food, food is good and sometimes ride silly little motorcycles with no seat, which is also good

Not sure how I feel about this...can’t wait to go camping but last time I was at Algonquin the washrooms were about as clean as the underside of your average kebab shop counter. I was using articles of clothing as stepping stones to get out of the shower without touching the floor. They better be disinfecting the crap out of them.

Really ? Been going to Killarney for over 30 years. Interior and campground. They have always steam cleaned the showers at least once a day.

I maybe got a bad crew day. I didn’t mind that much but probably would now with COVID. Still not as bad as when I stayed in a Serbian campsite and had to wade through a shallow sewage lake to get to the washroom.

Take a pair of dollar store flip flops for the showers, spray them with handsanitizer when back at your site. Safe costs a dollar.

some of the motels are open, got a couple of buddies heading out thursday for a 2 day ride staying in a motel. Best western in pembroke

Campsite owners were still allowed to be working on the properties.

They really could have been planning ahead a little by doing the essentials, getting water, hydro, and sewer online at least so peoples RV's were usable. The rest of the facilities can wait, if they allowed to open at all.

that would have required bringing in the employees and pay them,

would you spend money to de winterize sewage hookups and water lines and whatever else was required if it wasn't even known if you would be operational? Lot of effort for a 'what if'

Sewer systems don't need to be winterized, sewer drain pipes are full of air or you have a big problem.
Seasonal fresh water systems are a huge problem, you have freezing issues in winter and water quality issues all the rest of the time.
Hydro, not a big maintenance issue.
