WTF is going on with Motorcycle deaths?

The one in Brampton was about 1 km from my house. I go through that intersection all the time. Car turned left in front of the rider.

The one in Bradford involved a drunk car driver.

The one out Peterborough way was a single-vehicle loss of control. Given where this was, and how early in the season it is, one wonders about road conditions. I haven't been out that way recently.

edit: found the other one. The one in St Thomas was a car turning left in front of the motorcycle.

As for those blaming sport bikes ... the one in St Thomas was definitely a cruiser of some sort. Riding a cruiser in no way gives immunity to crashing. If a car turns left in front of you (at least 2 out of 4, and I don't know the circumstances of the Bradford one), the driver of that car doesn't care what sort of bike you are riding, it doesn't matter. A drunk driver won't care, either.

When you are approaching an intersection with other traffic potentially ready to enter the intersection ... SLOW DOWN. Doesn't matter what sort of bike you ride.

wait til the weather behaves later this week...so much for not burdening the hospitals thos looks like that is not an issue at the moment

It was low 20s on Saturday and there were 3 reported injury motorcycle accidents in all of Ontario (1 required hospitalization). Mid 20s this Saturday? Maybe it will be declared a motodemic.

I can hear that banshee wail of the sport bikes all day up here. Almost all of the deaths are sport bike riders. They're all pros don't cha know? If you told them to slow down they just laugh at you. After that, there's not much you can do.
lol, give it a rest with the sport bike stereo types. I hear harleys all day "down here" ripping it up and down yonge st at high speeds too. They're all pirates dont cha know?

Edit, I'll add, i haven't heard nearly as many sport bikes yet this season in my area as i have super motos. braaap city over here. The misconception that sport bike riders are the only ones missbehaving on two wheels is strong.

To be fair, I see very very few cruisers at high speeds. Normally the cruiser look-at-me crowd is deafeningly loud and very low speed. I am often amazed how they can make so much noise and accelerate so slowly.

We're neighbors!

You have to out ride them all or you die.
don't die, that would suck

although motorcycle would beat run over by a tractor tire and cultivator, or pto that would really suck way worse.

Saw a dude weaving in an out of traffic like a maniac in brampton of all places with beanie helmet and a road king, was reminded of this scene:

Ban motorcycles by Order in Counsel.

"You don't need a litre bike to cruise the forks of the credit..."

I haven’t driven or ridden much lately. I had a bunch of errands to run this weekend, there were a lot more cars on the road than there have been for the last several weeks.

it does seem like people have forgotten how to drive — Markham looks like a G1 training ground.

Good point.

the main difference is speed. Normally congested roads mean learner mistakes happen at slow speeds.

A whole bunch of crap weather with the odd one or two days of nicer riding weather equals a higher concentration of cars and bikes on the roads at the same time. I hear people at work say they’re going out for a drive on nicer days just to get out of the house. Higher motorcycle-related accident reporting happens at this time every year - but I think Covid has amplified that a bit more this year.

So who was the guy doing pro-boy wheelies at Jane and Finch today? Nice black sport bike. Going too fast for me to get the make of the bike. I'm thinking Ninja or similar. As for all those left turns killing the sport bike riders. What's your best chance? I'll say it again: slow down. Don't laugh.

how the F should I know? lol

Are there that many more deaths than last year? Or is it just that this long weekend was particularly deadly? I'm not making light of it, but typically as the weather warms up we get spurts of incidents here and there...but the cold/wet/horrid weather changes in a flash to a nice sunny day and all of a sudden we have the same amount (possible) of incidents in 1 - 2 days that would typically take 1-2 weeks to develop?

I don't keep stats on it but it's plausible.

Conspicuity! Big ******* lights save lives.

I like that setup. If I recall @ScorpionT16 had a nice lighting setup on his CB500X he just sold as well. Lights do save lives, and especially when they're spread out like that as it allows all traffic to get a better gauge of your closing speed. A single light is much more difficult to gauge speed and closing distance.
