Craft Beer: What are you drinking now??

I went Belgian again, and completely different... Kriek de Ranke out of cellar storage; highly recommended and especially for the sour beer fans. It's a lambic made with sour cherries. Rated 93 on Beer Advocate.

A good picture of the carbonation there in the glass.

Have a great weekend.

Tried a few more from Market Brewing yesterday and today...

Metropolitan Porter
Kveik New England IPA
Kveik Pale Ale

All were executed well, but nothing new or innovative...

Also had the Fairweather Miing Grapefruit, vanilla sour IPA.

The grapefruit and vanilla were there, but it was too sweet and syrupy.

I'm not much of a fan of local Craft beer. Too many to choose from and the ones that I do try don't often don't satisfy my taste buds.

However, this is one of my favourites.

I like a favorite-to-new beer ratio of 4:1 / 5:1 or so @oioioi. Most new beer just isn't as good as favorites are to me. YMMV.

Still, it's worth trying new beer with some regularity. So in honour of new samplings, here's some recent new-to-me BC craft beer; especially for the fans of hops.

Have a great weekend.

I’ve also had all three of these...they’re all good, but love the ISA.

Enjoying a new APA from my favourite Cambridge brewery - North Works. This one is called Lucid State.

Cheers!

The original is still the best.
I remember the first time I had it. Hop bomb!

Fairweather Golden Hour - sour dipa w/mango.

Never had a sour IPA so it was interesting to try. The mango also added some sour notes and a little funkiness.

Overall tasty, but I wouldn't buy it again...

Can someone please explain to me the IPA Hops of Doom beers?
I don't mind a mild IPA, but the levels of "My Hops are > Your Hops" nowadays is crazy.

Give me solid Belgian Dubbel or Triple and I'm a happy man...

Putting a ton of hops in isn’t big or clever. Making a balanced beer takes talent and skill. Unfortunately that skill is in shorter supply so........

Was the big trend a couple years ago to see who could produce the biggest IBU beers.

Much like the resurgence of the big 3 automakers horsepower wars, and the challenge previously of who could produce the biggest ABV (brewdog, sam adams etc...) beers.

As said before on here, dumping hops into the boil or the fermentation over and over isn't difficult or clever.

I believe that Omnipollo just released an "octo-ipa", that was dry hopped 8 times!

Omni makes some damn good beers, but I'm not sure how this one would be.

...that said though, if I saw a tin of it, I'd prob pick one up to try it ?

Another beer to share, and more to my liking style-wise. It's an English porter. And rated 92 on Beer Advocate.

I've seen this beer relatively consistently available in the GTA, as well as across Canada/NA. Definitely recommend it, especially if you like porters/stouts.

Old Engine Oil Black Ale by Harviestoun Brewery Ltd. In Scotland, UK.

Cheers.

Looks delicious.
Love the name!

Stonehooker, local to port credit

I've been lucky enough. 3 stouts/porters

So ive been rotating between them.
Wrought iron stout
Mad Capreol Vanilla Bean Porter
Milk Chocolate stout

From last night:

- Fairweather Ésor tart farmhouse with Cab Franc skins.

No flavor profile, flat mouthfeel, no body.
Def a miss from them.

- Radical Road Django Dopplebock.

Nice caramel colour, great head retention. Very drinkable.

Went for a drive today.
Hit up Henderson, Bandit, and Halo.

All three bottle shops were set up correctly for physical distancing, and as contact less as possible transactions.

The haul...
